What Should I Know About Brain Tumors?
Along with hearing the dreaded word “cancer,” brain tumors are a close second when it comes to scariest health issues. However, unlike certain forms of cancer, there are no preventative measures that you can take in order to lower your chances of having a brain tumor.
For some reason, the body does nothing to fight off tumor cell; and these cells will reproduce and grow.
So, before I get started on some of the treatment options and whatnot, I think it would be smart to give a quick description of what a brain tumor actually is.
As is natural with all of the cells in our bodies, cells grow and cells die. That’s just how it is. So, in order to keep everything balanced within our bodies, new cells replace dead cells, and the cycle goes on and on until we die.
Unfortunately, every once in a while, tumor cells start to grow; and nobody knows exactly why. If someone did, it’s more than likely that we'd have found a cure by now. The body usually does a pretty good job at getting rid of things that it doesn’t like (e.g., antibodies fighting off viruses and bacteria), because they don’t belong.
In the case of tumor cells, for some reason, the body does nothing to fight them off, and these tumor cells will reproduce and grow.
