Accomplishments and Announcements: The End of Your First Trimester

a celebrating family
You're quickly approaching the end of the first trimester. If you've been suffering from morning sickness and exhaustion, you may find that you'll begin to see some relief from your symptoms. Once the nausea begins to recede you may find that you are more energetic and motivated. If you want to get back to exercising now that you are feeling better, it is a great time to check out some of the prenatal yoga classes you had been considering or to start walking with friends in the evenings. You can also start to relax a bit, as your risk of miscarriage drops significantly after your twelfth week.

For many women, reaching this milestone makes them feel more comfortable with sharing the news of their pregnancy. If you've been waiting to spread the word, you might start preparing to let people in on your secret. If you've waited this long, why not come up with a creative way to share your news?

Announcing your news

Gather a group of friends or family. Ask someone to take a photo of you and your partner. As they prepare to take the picture, say “I'd like to get a great shot of the three of us.” Wait for it to sink in.

Alternatively, turn the camera around. Pose your family and friends together for a group shot. Instead of instructing them to say, “cheese,” just before you snap the photo let them know, “We're having a baby!” The resulting photo will be a great memento for the baby book.

Invite guests over for a dinner party with a theme. Baby carrots, baby greens, baby back ribs… See how long it takes before someone starts asking questions.

Custom t-shirts are an inexpensive and fun way to share the news. Make one for yourself that says, “Coming soon!” with your estimated due date. Make one for each of your parents, proclaiming them “grand.” Make one for your pet, announcing that he or she will have to share the spotlight. “My owners are having a baby, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt!”

These are all excellent ways to let your family and friends know that you’re expecting. Think I will try one of them.

    Pregnancy after 30:

As i come to the last week, almost two weeks of my first trimester i think ill give an overall review of how it went for me.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! morning sickness is the devil and it sucks! Its been way different for me considering that i had both of my children in my early 20s. Hardly no sickness at all with Sean. With Alexa, i was just dizzy most of the time. With this one its like whatever i didnt feel with those two im getting it two fold now.

On the flip side, im noticing that thats starting to subside and my hunger is starting to kick in…. HARD. I have the munchies like i was high on weed or something. every 4 to 5 hours or so. My son told me to stop eating so much (because i ate his snacks). I felt bad. but they were so delicious though..

    Hot pockets… who knew?

Also my food aversions. the first one to go was cheese sticks…. my beloved cheese sticks. Just cheese in general. I couldnt stand the taste. If i tasted just a hint of cheese it was hack city. then chocolate or any kind of candy related junk. then all i wanted was something grain-related….. mostly grits with butter. then all i wasnted was breakfast foods: grits, eggs, bacon (bacon for the simple fact that i gained a mild food allergy to sausage… again BOOOOOOOOO!) Not to mention weening myself off caffeine aka my lovely dark soda Dr. Pepper and the horrible headache withdrawals i was having because of that. I swear i was complaining so much about that to my guy, but he comforted me as much as he could through it all.

My soul died on the inside… but apple juice was tasting very lovely!!!!

What ive also noticed is that i have more lower back and feet soreness and my core temperature is higher too. especially at night. I have the house air AND fan going in my room and sometimes i wake up soaked in sweat, not alot but its annoying. Ive been dubbed the “incubator”.

Well, that pretty much sums up with have experienced during this first trimester. I think im ready for whats to come in the second!

Makes me feel better knowing after 12 weeks the risk of miscarrying drops significantly. Ive had 6 miscarraiges after I had my 2 baby thisIis our last shot, we’re 25 and we already have an 8 year old and a 5 yeard old but we really want another one. Just found out I am approximately 6 weeks into my 7th pregnancy after my second child and I go for an ultrasound nexy Wednesday, I am really hoping and praying this one goes the distance! Please pray for my family so we may be blessed with the one thing we want more than anything. I appreciate your help and god bless. Sincerely, the Frye Family

I had a miscarriage in December 2013. It was so painful and it was a tough time. Well, God is truly in the blessing business because we will have a baby in Dec 2014. I am ending my first trimester, and I feel elated to be out of the risk of miscarriage. I am praying for your family. And I pray that God will restore you like He did us.

      Be blessed.
