My Top 3 Favorite Baby Carriers for Newborns

There is something about newborns that just make everyone swoon. They're adorable. They're small, but when you have one of your own, you quickly realize – they're a lot of work.

I was surprised when I had my first newborn, just how much a newborn needs to be held. When I think about it – it totally makes sense because all they've ever known is being carried everywhere. It took me a while to figure out that I didn't need to have sore arms, that I could enlist the help of – what I consider – a must-have baby product: a baby carrier.

If you have a newborn or you're about to welcome one into your life, a baby carrier is going to make a huge difference. Your baby will be happy they're being held and carried and your body won't ache so much from just holding them in your arms.

Here are my top three baby carriers that I think you should look into getting for your newborn:

When I ventured into baby wearing, this was the first carrier I purchased, as recommended by a trusted friend. While there is a bit of a learning curve, with the large piece of fabric, I fell in love and I fell in love hard.

I love that in wearing my infant, it felt just as it had a few weeks prior with baby snug in my womb. I didn't find it hard to go about my day while wearing my baby. On top of that, my baby slept so well while being carried in the Moby Wrap, I didn't understand how I ever parented two other kids without it.

When I had my fourth child, who seemed to be a little fussier than my older kids, I went on the hunt for another carrier. I wanted a carrier that was faster to put on and put my baby in. I also wanted one that I could wear for hours and not feel any strain in my neck. A friend recommended the Beco Soliel and after reading other online reviews, I promptly ordered with the infant insert.

I love how much support this carrier gave to my stressed out back (my ab muscles weren't helping the back situation given I had just had a baby) and it was fast and simple to put on and put baby in. It was my go-to choice for running errands because, with three older kids, I didn't want to haul around a stroller too. It is a little pricier, but in my opinion, it's worth it. Also, it's super adjustable: meaning my short frame could wear it but my taller husband could comfortably carry baby in it as well.

Ring slings are awesome for newborns because they're comfortable for parent and baby and, well, they also look excellent. They come in a vast variety of patterns and comfort is key with this wrap. I love how my newborn always seemed to just be so at peace while being carried and it was an almost never-fail nap promise when the baby was snug in the Maya Wrap.
