Halloween is capping off the week, and if you're still struggling to costume your kiddo (shame on you; although, I can't really talk), we've got you covered with some last-minute costume ideas.

Once that's squared away, though, it's time to think of what's to be done with all of that candy.

Sure, all of the yummy chunks will get in your belly, for safety purposes, of course, but after you parcel out a couple of handfuls for your kids, chances are you will have a bunch of the cheap stuff it left over. What's a mom to do?

Donate it to a solider. Troops like candy, too, and Operation Gratitude takes all of the candy you don't want (because it turns your kid into a maniac) and gives it to them. Check the website for some do's and do not's and info on other ways to get involved with this awesome program.

Sell it to your dentist. It seems bad for business (because more candy = more cavities, duh), but dentists across the nation participate in candy buy-back programs where they take your kids' unwanted candy off of their hands in exchange for prizes and even cold, hard cash. Added awesome, lots of dentists actually take your candy and donate it to the troops, too! To find a nearby dentist that participates, check out the Halloween Candy Buyback page, where you can search for a practitioner by your zip code.

Turn it into party favors. We have a November birthday in our house, and if those kids think I'm going to go out and buy candy when we've got stacks on stacks on stacks of it laying around courtesy of trick-or-treating, they're cray. Thank you, neighbors, for not only making our Halloween night, but for also upping the awesome of my son's birthday with your generosity.

Give it to your kid's teacher. When I was teaching, I was always in need of sweet surprises to use as incentives and rewards. I know that in today's classroom allergies may present a problem, but offer, and if she can't use them, she can take them home and eat them. Or put them in the staff lounge.
