They DO Exist! Cute Shoes for Pregnant Feet

One of my favorite stories to tell about my first pregnancy was the day I gave up heels. I was 27 weeks, give or take, and my shifting center of gravity was causing me to be a little clumsy. My husband suggested—nicely—that I should forego my heels in lieu of some more reasonable footwear. I promptly took off my heels and threw them at the bedroom door in a fit of pregnancy hormones and then calmly wore my flats for the rest of my pregnancy.

The second time around, my feet found flats much sooner, and I was wearing flip flops exclusively by the end. I've grown to love flats, even after my baby was born. Luckily, there are tons of options for cute, supportive shoes that are perfect for pregnant piggies. Here are a few of my favorites.

Crocs have been the butt of shoe-lovers' jokes for many years now, but did you know there are surprisingly adorable styles that don't even slightly resemble the boxy originals?

The Croc Ballerina Estiva, part of the Stefano Furiani Collection, looks like a sophisticated flat but with the same comfort of Signature Crocs. The shoe is dressy enough to wear to work or more formal functions, but it can also be worn with jeans and a t-shirt, so they are very versatile. The light arch support will also help you stay comfortable as your belly gets bigger.

Naturalizer Creston flats

Naturalizer is one of the biggest names in comfortable shoes, but these aren't your grandma's Naturalizer. The Naturalizer Creston is a chic slip-on with a stretchable throat for a comfortable fit and a cushioned insole. The flexible rubber outsole will stand up to wear and weather—it's as close to a slipper as you can find without actually wearing slippers. The Creston comes in black and brown.

As a working mom, one of my challenges was to find comfortable shoes that looked dressy enough to wear with my work clothes and stood up to the wear and tear of walking to the office daily. The Fitzwell Abella slip on flats have a stylish reptile print with a glossy finish that makes them look dressier than other flats. On the inside, the signature Fitzwell gel comfort heel pad and moderate arch support give you extra support while you're carrying a full belly of baby. An elasticized top will adjust to swollen feet for a great fit. The Abellas are available in black and grey.

When you're tired of the same old flats and need a something funky in your maternity wardrobe, pick up a pair of Minnetonka moccasins. I especially love the Leopard Kilty Moc, which has a cute leopard-print upper along with the traditional moccasin look. The Minnetonka Mocs have a leather interior and cushioned sole for comfort and support, and the flex grooves in the heel will help steady your stride. And let's face it, pregnant ladies need all the help they can get in that department! The Minnetonka Leopard Kilty Moc is available in taupe, black, and brown.

Clarks haley Toucan

Clarks has been around for 185 years, so they probably know a thing or two about shoe comfort. For the mama-on-the-go, I love the Clarks Haley Toucan. These flats are casual and fun, but are also super comfortable and supportive. The OrthoLite cushioned Soleassage actually massages your feet with each step. Traction “pods” help keep you steady, and the textile lining in the upper will help your feet stay cool. The Haley Toucan style is available in black and pink, gray and pink, hot pink and light pink, and white and orange.
