Celebrity Dads on Diaper Duty
Channing Tatum is not only gorgeous, funny and sweet, but he also changes diapers.
Be still my beating heart!
“I'm solid at changing a diaper now,” the 22 Jump Street star told PEOPLE. “If a guy isn't good at changing a diaper, I don't know what he's there for, really. ‘Cause they're not there for the first seven months for any other reason than to do that.”
Just last year, Channing told the magazine he had never changed a diaper before and was worried about his baby's diaper falling off or leaking. Hey, it can happen to even expert diaper changers!
Channing went on to wax poetic about the gymnastics his active 1-year-old daughter, Everly, performs while he's trying to change her diaper. “I can do the whole thing while she's crawling, standing up …” And I hate to tell him, but it does get worse before it gets better!
Is your significant other a diaper daddy, or does he shy away from dirty duds? Other celebrity dads sound off on changing their offsprings' diapers.
Although Matthew McConaughey looks like your typical hands-on daddy, and he's been snapped playing on the beach with his three children, Livingston, Via, and Levi, there is one parenting duty that's seemingly not on the list: changing diapers. He told PEOPLE last year, “I'm not changing the diapers.” And when the reporter asked who was changing his newborn son, Levi, he responded, “Somebody.” That somebody is probably an underpaid nanny. Come on, Matteo; Get your hands dirty!
File this diaper-averse daddy story under “Things that don't surprise me in the least.” Kim Kardashian has discussed how great her new husband, rapper Kanye West, is with their 1-year-old daughter, Nori. “He's not a diaper kind of guy. And that's OK. But he would if it was an emergency!” Kim told the Mirror. Kanye, it's not as if we all just love to change diapers!
Chris Martin, Coldplay lead singer and recently “uncoupled” husband of Gweneth Paltrow, doesn't mind a diaper changing sesh. In fact, he almost likes it a little too much. “Men should always change diapers. It's a very rewarding experience. It's mentally cleansing. It's like washing dishes, but imagine if the dishes were your kids, so you really love the dishes,” he told Good Housekeeping.
Prince William may be the future King of England, but he's not above changing a dirty diaper. In his first sit-down interview after the birth of his first son, Prince George, he said he had the honor of changing the first diaper while they were still in the hospital. “I did the first nappy; it's a badge of honor. We've all grown up differently to other generations, and I very much feel that I can do it myself — I want to do it myself.” That's one royally hands-on dad!
