When you're purchasing a car seat for your baby, there are a few considerations. First — of course — is safety. You want to be sure that you're using a seat that will offer adequate protection for your most precious little one. The good news is that all seats are held to certain standards for safety. The other considerations — including ease of use, style, and price — are where the differences really come into play.
Finding the right seat at the right price depends on a few factors. If you shop around, there are definitely plenty of options that can get you a great seat at a great price. (All prices found in this post are based on prices found on 3/28/17.)
Different colorways or patterns affect price: You may have your heart set on a certain color or pattern, but being willing to change it up can change the cost of the seat.
Different retailers affect price: Sometimes manufacturers will sell the same basic seat through different retailers for different amounts. We have purchased the same Graco seat from three different retailers at different price points with minor differences — different buckles, different piping, different colors.
Sales/time of year can affect price: Just like clothing, baby gear goes in seasons. If you can pick up a seat during the seasonal change, you can sometimes score a huge discount. For example, January at Target is typically a time for huge deals on all the baby gear!
