About January: It's in the middle of winter for most of us, and often the coldest month of the year. It's often heralded as a new start, as the shift into a new calendar year begins the month. In fact, the name January is believed to be derived from the Roman god Janus, the god of beginnings and transitions.

Recent studies have suggested that babies born in January may be more apt to become debt collectors. They also seem more likely to suffer from some later illnesses, such as Alzheimers or asthma. The possible link? Exposure to sunlight during pregnancy, so get out there are catch a few rays every chance you get!

January babies also, according to Freakonomics, are more likely to have success becoming soccer players, if history is any indication. Look out David Beckham!
