It's the first week of November, which, as every parent knows and if every store known to mankind is any indication of, only means one thing:

That we've gone from Halloween straight to Christmas, amIright?

But I say let's give this Thanksgiving season the attention it deserves and focus on what we have in our lives to be grateful for, starting with where it all begins:

Pregnancy.

Here is a list of seven things I am grateful for during pregnancy. Add yours to the list!

Morning sickness.

Sure, it may sound silly, but morning sickness, in a lot of cases, means that those pregnancy hormones are surging, and your baby is growing well. However, if your morning sickness is extreme, don't be afraid to seek help. You may need some extra hydration and medication to keep you both healthy!

Cute maternity jeans.

Honestly, wouldn't the world be a much better place if we could all just wear maternity clothes? I'm convinced that many of our first-world problems are caused by trying to stuff ourselves into clothes that are totally uncomfortable. I'm thinking stylish paneled pants for all!

The chance to take over the world.

OK, perhaps that's a bit extreme, but not everyone has nice things to say to women who opt to reproduce. Whenever I get a rude comment about contributing to overpopulation or wreaking havoc on our world's resources, I can just smile and remember that I am just adding another member to the world, who I can raise to respect women and pregnancy. So there.

To be a part of something greater than ourselves.

Many of us live our lives just hoping for the chance to do something great — something that will leave a legacy, something to be remembered by, and something that makes a difference. Well, guess what, my preggos? You are participating in an event that is truly something greater than ourselves by becoming a part of creating another life, which could go on to another life, and then more life, and then more life, and before you know it, your willingness to carry this little one has changed the entire course of history. Nicely done, Mama. Nicely done.

For a supportive partner.

A supportive partner makes all the difference during pregnancy. Whether it's someone to eat ice cream with you in the middle of the night or it's your go-to back rubber, having someone with you every waddle of the way is truly a gift.

A healthcare team you can trust.

Pregnancy is the start of an entirely new journey, and it is one that will be fraught with questions, concerns, and possible complications along the way. So if you have a care provider and a team of healthcare workers you can trust, be sure to thank them for helping both of you during this special time in your lives! (Or all of you, if you're a multiples mom!) In a time where many mothers worldwide still are in danger during pregnancy, it is certainly a time for gratitude to have access to life-saving medical care.

Your body.

Whether you've had a love/hate relationship with your body for your whole life or not, pregnancy is the one time in your life that you can gain a true appreciation for just how amazing a woman's body can be. From a minuscule, microscopic start, your body is capable of creating, growing, and nurturing an entire human being, all while you go about doing your typical supermom daily tasks.

So, really, take a moment to reflect on how incredible your pregnant body really is and thank it for all its hard work. Pregnancy really is an amazing time, and your body deserves some recognition for more than just looking good. Although, we happen to think pregnant women always look beautiful, too.
