My son's name is Luke. When he starts school, I'm guessing there will be about 15 other little boys also named Luke; just like I can name at least five Amandas who are my close personal friends.

What I'm saying here, is that I'm a bit on the boring side when it comes to naming my kids. Maybe you enjoy a classic, timeless name for your child; maybe you'd rather your child's teacher stumble over her name in the roll call. If you are the latter, and expecting a new little one soon, take a little inspiration from some of our favorite celebrities … and the natural world.

Kate Winslet isn't the only celebrity who has named her child, Bear (Alicia Silverstone is mama to Bear Bleu); but her 8 month old son might have the most interesting story behind the it. Kate told Ellen DeGeneres that Bear got his unusual middle name because she and Bear's father, Ned Rocknroll, met during a house fire at Richard Branson's Necker Island vacation home. “The house burned down and we survived,” said Kate. “But we wanted something of the fire and so Blaze was the name that we came up with. Bear Blaze.”

“You know what reminds me of a soft, snuggly newborn baby? A cricket.” Said no one ever … except Busy Phillips, who named her daughter (with Marc Silverstein) Cricket Pearl. After the media criticized the unusual name, she Tweeted, “It's weird people think my kids will be in therapy because of their names. Guys, my kids will be in therapy for LOTS of reasons, I'm sure.”

Former Playboy Bunny Holly Madison, choose one of the most happy-go-lucky names she could: Rainbow Aurora. Rainbow because she wanted her daughter to be “proud of who she is and learn to speak up and stand up for herself.” Holly was inspired by a schoolmate with the same name, and said the girl was a “perfectly normal, well-adjusted, sporty girl” and not at all traumatized by the fact that her name is Rainbow.

Forest's oldest son, Ocean, is one four children in the Whitaker family with earthy names (Autumn, Sonnet, and True are the others.) “I want them to kind of touch their destiny by their names,” Forest said of his three daughters and one son. “Ocean just has a big heart.
