4 Surprising Things Celebrities Have Said About Being Pregnant
Celebrities may seem nothing like us, but they aren't immune to the very real limits of the pregnant human body. They may not be real mortals, but pregnancy might just bring them back down to our level just a bit.
Here are a few of the more surprising ways that some of our favorite celebrity moms have totally gotten real about pregnancy.
Stretch marks are a part of motherhood for many of us, but Chrissy Teigen keeps it real by letting us know that even supermodels get stretch marks. We're all human, right?
I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Kim Kardashian. I admire how she has carved an empire for herself and I think she's an incredibly smart business woman, but I'm still not in the Kim West fan club. And yet, Kim happens to be my spirit animal when it comes to understanding that pregnancy is a privilege and a gift, but also that it's freaking hard.
“I just don't think pregnancy and me really agree with each other,” the 35-year-old told E! News. “You know, it was really hard for me to get pregnant so I do feel really blessed that I am pregnant and, at the end of the day, it is a million times worth it. I'm really not complaining, I'm just being honest about [it]. I hate it. You know pregnancy is not for me … I'm not going to sit here and lie and act like it's the most blissful experience. It's awful.”
I remember seeing Kristen Bell on a talk show shortly after her second daughter was born and, by Hollywood standards (which, of course, for the record, are absurd), she did not look like she had “bounced back” two seconds after birth. She's been open about the fact that she did not put pressure on herself to lose the weight right away and the fact that even Bell, a healthy eater and a fit actress, gained necessary weight, was refreshing to see. She has a great attitude about pregnancy weight gain — it's normal and if you don't lose it right away, it's not the end of the world. Love yourself, stay healthy, and it will happen.
“You're participating in the most beautiful cycle that this earth will allow–who cares if you put on weight for a few months or a year or two years? In the grand scheme of things, I refuse to let it bother me.” — Kristen Bell, 2013
Every mom knows the struggle of the pregnancy police, the ones who just can't stop asking when you are going to pop that kid out. And I have to admit that I've never heard quite as good of a comeback as the infamous Amber Rose, who remarked:
“I gotta be honest, it's really irritating to hear people say, ‘God, you've been pregnant forever.' I'm making a baby here, not Ramen noodles.” Truth, Amber, truth.
