4 Free Workouts You Can Do at Home With a Baby (For Real)
Do you know what I hate more than those women who can wear a bikini hours after giving birth? — those people who talk about doing workouts with baby in tow like it's some kind of cute experience, where their baby just kind of sits adorably and drools while they fit in a sweet sweat sesh instead of the torturous experience when it takes longer to set their baby up with some snacks or a bottle or some toys than it takes them to actually workout.
(I don't actually hate them. We're all different and good for them!)
And then there are 15 million interruptions or the baby climbs on you or starts crying when you have five minutes to go, and you're like, “What do I do??!” and you either feel guilty that your baby is crying or feel guilty that you can't work out. But either way, it's no fun for anyone.
I get it. I hate working out at home with a baby as much as the next person, but sometimes, it really is the only way. I know this because I've done it for many years, and you know what? — you've got to roll with the punches. One thing is for sure, though: if my workout is going to suck either way, it had better be free.
So I've rounded up some seriously awesome and seriously free workouts that you can do at home that 1) will actually get you sweating in no time, 2) work your entire body, and 3) are possible to do completely at home.

Jillian Michaels: 30 Day Shred — Level 1
I honestly don't remember how I discovered Jillian on YouTube, but I'm so glad I did because her workouts are amazing. I started doing them on Thanksgiving Day last year to try to feel less guilty about the massive piece of cheesecake I was going to consume, and I quickly got hooked.
Her workouts are 28 minutes from start to finish, incorporate all the basic moves that you know work, like, um, pushups, and they honestly kick your butt. But she is really good about showing how to do modifications if you can't push it that far.
I did so many of these with the baby in a bouncer or holding her when she got cranky or just literally throwing Cheerios at her while I did jumping jacks because I'm a supermom like that.

Jillian Michaels: 30 Day Shred — Level 2
The way “The Shred” program is set up is you're supposed to move up a level every week (there are three levels total), and then by the end of the month, you're “shredded.”
I had a lot of work to do to get “shredded,” so I moved up levels a lot more slowly and did Level 1 for a month with no shame about that. Once you're ready, however, you can click on over and move up to Level 2, also free and under 28 minutes.
You can also start right at Level 2 if you want to change it up or are in better shape than me. Both levels work out different muscles, so it's nice to mix it up.

Jillian Michaels: Banish Fat Boost Metabolism
OK, yes, fine, I have a slight addiction to Jillian Michaels' videos, but trust me. I've spent an embarrassingly large amount of time looking for good, effective, at-home workouts that I don't have to pay for, and she just has the best.
This one is longer (almost an hour), so I'd save this one for nap time or sneak it in before dinner if you can. But it's so, so good. You will be begging for mercy by the end. I had my super-fit 20-year-old sister do it with me once, and she barely made it through.

Mommy Baby Workout
If you want to go hardcore and actually work out with your baby, this is a homemade workout that works. I'd save this one for those fussy days and maybe not an older 25-pound baby like mine. But really, with this one, you really can squeeze in a workout.
The key to losing weight is figuring out your target heart rate and keeping it at that level for at least 30 minutes, which this video can help you accomplish.
