Sex During Pregnancy

sex-during-pregnancyIt is natural to be curious about how your sex life will change as your pregnancy progresses. In fact, one of the most common concerns among expectant couples is whether or not it is safe to have sex during pregnancy.

Many couples abandon the missionary position for a more comfortable side-by-side position as the pregnancy progresses.

Fortunately, the answer is usually, Yes! During a low-risk pregnancy, it is safe to have sex. There are some situations in which your health care provider may advise against sex.

If you have a history of miscarriages or preterm labor, premature uterine contractions, unexplained cramping, discharge or bleeding, are carrying multiples, or if you have any special conditions such as incompetent cervix or placenta previa, you may be told to avoid sex. If you have any questions or concerns, it is best to check with your healthcare provider.

Of course, even though sex is safe during pregnancy, it’s up to you and your partner to decide what is best for you. You may find that your desire for sex changes throughout your pregnancy. In fact, both increased and decreased sex-drive are normal during pregnancy, and you will probably experience both. On the one hand, pregnancy can make you and your partner feel closer than ever and invigorate your sex life, while on the other, pregnancy symptoms, like ever-present morning sickness and backaches, can really get in the way of a romantic evening.

It’s most important to keep the lines of communication open between you and your partner. Intimacy can be expressed in many ways, and pregnancy can lead to intimate experiences that are more inventive and fulfilling than your pre-pregnancy sex life.

Certainly, many couples find that as the pregnancy progresses, they need to experiment with new positions. On the next page, you will find the answers to some common questions couples have about sex during pregnancy.

okay, so I’ve got to throw my opinion in here somewhere because after reading some of these, it really made my day lol. Some of you girls have no shame and just kinda throw it all out there, so KUDOS TO YOU! 🙂

    Anyways, on with my post.

Sex with my hubby up to this point has kind of been a hit and miss deal because our work schedules don’t really give us the right timing to get it in, but that’s soon to change because my job has been kind enough to limit my hours so that I can take it easy, but still make some money to tie up the ends on buying stuff for my little man.

This is not my first child, but my sons have different dads. The father of my oldest never really gave me the option of not getting it in, which may be why it was so easy to deliver my first son who was growing two weeks ahead of schedule.

From reading these articles, sex sounds wayyyy more helpful then harmful. To be honest, here recently, my body craves the intimacy but I just don’t know how to go about being attractive and what not since I look like i have a peach colored planet strapped to the front of me. My hubby does a wonderful job of complimenting me and trying to make me feel good about myself (&trust me I love it!)

I made a deal with myself today though, and just screwed myself of getting out of it by any means because I told my hubby!, that we are going to try to get it in at least every other day up until delivery because from the sounds of it, it may just help our little guy get here a little sooner because he’s due anytime now 🙂 that, and we should probably get it in as much as we can now since we won’t be able to for at least a month after our boy gets here! :p

  20. kensie says:

every pregnancy is different.. sometimes your hormones make you wanna bone every second of everyday and sometimes those lovely little hormones drain every bit of sex drive you have to where it is the farthest thing from your mind. lol

  21. kensie says:

im 36 weeks and it feels kinda awkward having sex as this point. Don’t get me wrong, we still do. just no where near as often, but we’re thinking about trying some different things to get the bedroom intimacy back because he’s pretty disappointed that he wont get it for 6 weeks after our little guy is here lol.

  22. ChrisS says:

When I had my first child, my husband and I didn’t have sex much. Unlike my second pregnancy, my hormones was wild. It was a total opposite from my first pregnancy. Made my husband very happy.

  23. ChrisS says:

I felt the same way when I was pregnant with my second child. As my pregnancy progress it become harder.

  24. i have 3 kids and sex was very good wen i was with child now iam with child and i get bad cramps after sex it almost not worth having sex at all but it feels good during

  25. geneva says:

sex is great as always for us.. good advise
