By week 14, your baby is around the size of a lemon, measuring about three and a half inches and weighing one and a half ounces. Her body also starts to even out this week, as her arms and head are finally proportionate to the rest of her body. Her hands and feet now measure about a half-inch long, and are actively punching and kicking inside you. Don't be alarmed if you can't feel this movement, as the little one developing inside you is probably still too small for you to feel.
Your baby is also busy making facial expressions by week 14. He can squint his eyes, and his lips can turn into a frown. His neck has grown longer, and his chin has started to take shape. Your baby’s kidneys can produce urine, and her liver has begun to produce bile. Her spleen has even begun to help in the production of red blood cells. Your baby’s placenta is fully functioning now, supplying oxygen, fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals, and is removing and filtering waste materials.
Science is discovering more and more about the important role that the placenta plays in your baby’s health, so don’t discount the importance of the incredible brand-new organ your body has made.

According to my last cycle, I’m 14 weeks, also according to the size measurements from when I had an emergency ultrasound last week for passing a clot the size of a plum. But according to when conception could have possibly even happened, I should only be 12 weeks. Anyhoo, I’m 37 years old and this is baby #7. I can already feel the movements, but I have been able to feel it early with all my kids, possibly because I’m so skinny (which means I’m already showing and have been for about eight weeks already!). Hoping for a girl (would be girl #3) but I think it’s a boy (boy #5). We shall see.
ReplyHi group, I’m 14weeks and 3 days today and I’m already feeling the lil butterflies. I don’t know the gender yet but my family and I all think it’s a boy because I’ve been sick a lot, who knows everyone says something different. I’m excited and scared all at the same time. I’ve had a few miscarriages in my past, I never made it this far in the pregnancy and I was so excited when I seen I was watching the ultrasound as the baby was flipping around and we could see the baby’s heart beat.
ReplyCongratulations, Lakisha! So exciting!!
ReplyI’m 38 years old & I’m 14 weeks pregnant. I’ve actually been showing for a month (I didn’t start out with a flat stomach). This is baby #4. I have 3 boys & twin granddaughters. A week ago hubby & I found out we are having a girl! 🙂 (Because of my age, I got the Maternity 21 test.) We couldn’t be happier. My due date is on my granddaughters’ 2nd birthday. So far no movement felt. Honestly, I don’t even feel pregnant. No morning sickness at all. Just cravings for food I don’t eat. First it was mushrooms & yesterday it was hotdogs. I refused to eat hotdogs though, so I became nauseated. Yep, she’s already arguing with me. lol All was fine after I ate 2 slices of toast with peanut butter. This will be my last child & so I am enjoying every moment of it. I haven’t been pregnant in 15 years. I just wish I had more options to get rid of my cold. Benadryl isn’t helping & I’m tired of chicken broth & orange juice. I’m ready to cut my nose off so I stop sneezing & it stops running. Other than being sick, I’m loving being pregnant. We’re not telling everyone until April 1st though. That way I can play my annual April Fool’s joke on my folks.
ReplyI’ll be 14 weeks next week and I’m going for my very 1st ultrasound. Has anybody found out the gender of their baby this early? I’m hoping it’s a boy. I have 3 boys and 1 girl.
ReplyI found out last week, but not from an ultrasound. Because of my age, I had the Maternity 21 test to check for birth defects & it can also tell the gender.
ReplyI’m 14 weeks pregnant and found out its a boy yesterday!! Very happy
ReplyHi! I actually did an ultrasound at 12 wks and the tech was right..im having a boy yaaah!!
ReplyHi there – It depends on your doctor and they’re ultrasound schedule, but generally gender is not shared until week 20, when it’s easier to be certain. Best wishes!
ReplyHey I am also pregnant, and I am 14 weeks. The thing is I might be wrong on my last period…it differs from the 27th to the 3rd…im thinking I’m a lot farther along than I am, so more like 20 weeks. I finally felt movement just this morning and as we speak

ReplyIm not sure if my bby kicks but at night I feel her turning. Im so exited to find out the gender to start the decorations in the room:)♡♡♡
Replythis is my first pregnancy and i am very excited but, i don’t really agree about the size of the baby becasue it depends on every pregnancy.. my baby was 6.38 inches by 12 weeks and 4 days and i don’t think thats the size of a lemon lol
Replythat should of been cm nt inches… I was 13 weeks and was 7.13 cm…. Which is about 3 inches so it was about same as what they say on here… Ask your ultrasound person b.c they prob just said thw numbers and you automatically thought inches but it should of been in cm
ReplyI love to see how big they are comparative to fruits and veggies.
ReplyI am 14 weeks 3 days with my second child. I heard the heart beat yesterday and so did my son. He lit up knowing he was hearing his baby brother or sister in my belly! Only one more month til we find out the sex and I can’t wait!
ReplyI too am a first time grandmother and look forward to following the progress as my daughter lives in the Yukon and I won’t see her through her pregnancy.
ReplyCongratulations on becoming a grandmother! Make yourself at home – we are so happy to have you here!
ReplyThis is my first baby and I’m 14 weeks and 1 day. I’ve felt that little butterfly feeling that people say is the first sign of feeling the baby move and I swear the baby kicked my fiance today. I had him apply a little pressure in one spot on my belly where it felt like there was a “knot” and he said it bumped him. I didn’t feel it, but he swears he did.
Reply14 weeks and 1 day!!! cant wait to get the first kick… first of many pls god.. 🙂 XX
ReplyI’m 14 weeks and 5 days pregnant with my third child and I have been told by several people including my doctor that with third you are able to feel more earlier and two days ago I could swear that I felt my baby move!! Does anyone else believe thats what I felt?
ReplyI thought I felt some movements this last Sat. I heard if you’ve been pregnant before, you’re more likely to feel movements earlier than first time being pregnant.
ReplyIm going to be a first time Grandma (LoLo) Im so excited for my daughter 🙂 Praying for a healthy baby :))) Hope to find out the sex next Sat at her Sneak a Peak. Then SHOPPING !
