You Can Create a Celebrity-Inspired Nursery on a Budget!

Keep It Simple
In the modern design world, simplicity equals elegance. Choose a few favorite pieces of artwork, or other décor, and don’t go crazy with colors and patterns.

To keep from breaking the bank, consider thrift stores or relatives as potential sources of hand-me-down furniture.

Although it’s common for new mothers to think of their baby’s need for stimulation and, therefore, go overboard, in reality, your newborn can easily get over-stimulated with too much visual input. Keep in mind that you’ll be spending a lot of time in the nursery as well, so make it a space that you can both enjoy.

Make It Yourself
If you’re crafty at all, or just want to learn how to be, you can create a nursery fit for royalty for a fraction of the price. Look through some design magazines, or go online to see pictures of celebrity nurseries, to get your creative juices flowing. Then, consider sewing your own curtains, or painting some original artwork, using the color scheme you’ve chosen for the room. Even if it doesn’t turn out perfect, it will have more sentimental value than any store-bought addition.

If the finished room doesn’t turn out exactly like the nurseries you see featured in magazines, don’t fret. After all, your baby craves your love and attention more than anything; and before you know it, he’ll want to redecorate his “big-kid room” anyway.

It’s perfectly normal to want a perfect nest for your little one; but remember that the most important investment you should make, once your baby arrives, is your time and affection.

I’m sorry, but if a parent is still concerned about paying attention to celebs and still following their every moves or how they do things rather than feeling entirely absorbed in their new child and focusing solely on their baby’s needs and wants and safeties, then in my opinion there is something at least slightly not right there.

For my children I choose colorful, and stimulating decorations. I did not stick with a single theme because I thought it would be better for them to have many things to attract them, as opposed to a repeated theme.

  17. I want to do pink and brown!!

  18. Courtney says:

I am currently painting my little boys room safari theme. Doing all the animals, trees and stuff by hand, by myself and so far it is looking amazing 🙂 I can’t wait to post pictures!!!

I want to do our little girls room in Little monkeys or bedtime original lil friends

  20. We did a room that was subtley influenced by Star Wars. Our baby’s name is going to be Lucas and I wanted a slight bit of Star Wars influence in the room but we didn’t want it to be a Star Wars themed room, so we agreed on a compromise and we’re placing the words, "Truly wonderful the mind of a child is." on the wall. It’s a Yoda quote, but its not crazy evident that its a Star Wars influenced quote. It was a subtle touch that made me happy and still kept the room from turning into one of these overly thematic rooms.

Amirah and i will be sharing a room my walls are already lavender so im buying some sparkly lavender paint to accent on our dressers and furniture!!

  22. I think we’re going to go with green paint with monkeys =] I would like to do a drawing or painting for the little guy’s room, but I don’t know if it’ll be good enough…

  23. I’m so excited to decorate my nursery. I’m thinking I want to do a Peter Pan and the lost boys theme, that way I can incorporate all the cute Peter Pan themes like fairies and pirates, and get really creative with it. I’m so excited, and can’t wait for my little one to get here!
