How to Be a Natural, Classic Beauty

While this can be fun and sometimes even helpful in finding your personal style, the secret to classic beauty is staying true to yourself and playing up your own naturally beautiful features.

To keep your skin healthy and looking young, always wear sunscreen and moisturize daily. Wash your face with a mild cleanser every night. Look to natural ingredients to care for your skin. Tea tree oil can be used to treat acne, and may be gentler than medicated treatments. Liquid from vitamin E capsules, either added to moisturizer or applied directly on your skin, can soothe inflammation, even skin tone, and may fight wrinkles. Gently exfoliate your skin once or twice a week with a mixture of olive oil and sugar. Use a natural facial mask made from pumpkin puree, honey, or mashed banana or avocado once a week to purify, moisturize, and soothe your skin. Place cold cucumber slices over your eyes to combat under-eye darkness and puffiness, or use hemorrhoid cream or bruise relief gel, which are cheaper than most eye care products.

Natural beauties use makeup to play up their best features without looking obvious. Instead of heavy foundation, choose a tinted moisturizer, or a lightweight foundation if you need more coverage. A concealer with green undertones will counteract any redness from blemishes, while yellow undertones will hide under-eye circles. Apply cream blush to the apples of your cheeks for a rosy glow. Mascara – black for brunettes and brown for blondes and redheads – and lip-gloss will finish an everyday makeup look. For evenings, choose one feature to highlight. If you wear eyeliner and eyeshadow, keep your lips subtle with a light or clear gloss. For classic red lips, find the right shade of lipstick for your skin tone. Plum shades are better for pink complexions, while warmer reds with a brown base are better for olive complexions. Fill in your lips with lip liner in the same shade before applying the lipstick to prevent running or fading. When doing a bold lip, wear only mascara on your eyes.

To maintain naturally beautiful hair, work with your hair instead of against it. Consider your hair's natural texture when deciding on a cut or style instead of relying on difficult and time-consuming daily routines to maintain an unnatural look. Instead of blow drying your wavy or curly hair straight every day, ask your stylist to give you a cut that works with the waves or curls and to suggest one easy product to help control them. If you color your hair, stay within a few shades of your natural hair color for the most flattering, natural look. Hair should only be washed a couple of times a week. Daily washing strips hair of its natural oil leaving it dry and damage prone. Deep condition your hair once a week with a store-bought mask, mayonnaise, or olive oil.

The most important tip for natural beauty is to stay healthy and happy. Exercise and eat healthy food, not to maintain a certain weight, but to feel good and stay healthy. Keep a regular routine to make sure you are getting enough sleep. Do things that make you happy, as nothing is more beautiful than a sincere smile. Wear clothes that flatter your body and express your personal style rather than being a slave to trends. Remember that we are all naturally beautiful, and staying healthy, happy, and true to ourselves is the best way to let that beauty shine.
