Focusing at Work When Conception is Taking Over Your Mind

When you are trying to conceive, it is easy to let the process take over your life. Your sex life may be determined by the calendar. You may cancel a night out with friends to get down to baby-making. You may even start losing focus at work.

For every few tasks you accomplish, reward yourself with a quick break to indulge your Conception Obsession!

While you’re marking meetings on your calendar, your eyes obsessively wander to where you’ve marked your last period, just to confirm one more time that you remember the date correctly. While working on the computer, you go to www.EverydayFamily.com to calculate when you’ll ovulate – again.

Instead of calling clients, you text your partner, reconfirming that he hasn’t made plans for ovulation night. Instead of concentrating on the task at hand, you wonder if your breasts are feeling a little tender, or if you feel a faint cramp in your abdomen. While your coworkers are talking during lunch, you’re staring at your food hoping to feel nauseated.

Instead of preparing for a meeting on Wednesday, you’re obsessively thinking about Thursday morning, when you can finally take that pregnancy test. If your mind is constantly wandering to the conception process during work, it’s important to take steps to refocus. At the beginning of each work day, make a list of all the tasks you have to accomplish.

As your mind wanders throughout the day, the list will help ensure you don’t forget to do something important. As you complete each task, cross it off the list. It will help give you a sense of accomplishment and may make the day go by more quickly. For every few tasks you accomplish, reward yourself with a quick break to indulge your conception obsession.
