Um, the “Baby Food Diet” Is Totally a Thing

I've done a lot in my day to try to lose the “baby” weight.

I've run 10 miles straight, I've lifted weights I never thought I could lift, I've jumped and jacked and crunched, and I've declared that I don't really like cupcakes anyway, but there is one thing I admit that has never crossed my mind when it comes to dieting to try lose the baby weight — and that would be actually using my baby to diet.

As in, eating baby food as a diet. Apparently, this is a real thing, and I had no idea.

According to Shape.com, the baby-food diet is a trend with celebrities who we can always count on to tell us the latest and greatest way to get killer abs and toned legs. Even though the great actress formerly known as Rachel has adamantly denied ever consuming baby food in an effort to stay thin, rumor has it that Jennifer Aniston used this special diet because it was recommended by a trainer. 

Here's how the diet works: you simply substitute breakfast and lunch with baby food! The diet recommends swapping out your morning and mid-day meals with around 14 jars of baby food, aiming for lots of variety with those blended fruits and veggies, passing on any that contain lots of sugar or processing, of course. And then, for dinner, you simply eat a “sensible” dinner.

With proportioned, portable jars, you can literally do this diet anywhere, anytime. And each jar has an easy-to-see calorie count, so if counting calories is your thing, you can easily do so, all while knowing you are still getting your veggies. Couldn't be easier!

Or more gross?

I don't know if the baby food diet is really all that different than, say, an all-smoothie diet, but there's still something slightly unsettling about it to me. Also, call me crazy, but there's something to be said about, I don't know, actually chewing your foods. Plus, it seems like everything in my life has already been taken over by children, so it would be nice to keep at least something vaguely adult-like, like, you know, eating mac and cheese off my kids' plates like a normal human being.
