Phew! It’s Too Hot to Turn on the Oven! Use These Tricks to Get Dinner Done
Much of the country is experiencing a heat wave. But even with regular summer temperatures, it can feel too hot to turn on the oven and heat up the entire kitchen. Plus, no one really feels like cooking a heavy meal in summer heat anyway. But, we still need to feed the family even on the hottest of days. What to do? Check out these simple appliances that can be used to cook up fast, healthy meals without too much fuss or heat.

Convection Toaster: One of the best things I did after having kids was getting a large convection toaster. Toasters like the Krups 6 Slice Digital Toaster are roomy enough to bake mini-pizzas or toast a few sandwiches at a time. It can even bake a small batch of cookies! Convection capabilities mean cooking can be done even faster.
Grill: It's obvious that you can grill outside. But there is also a solution for when you would rather grill from the comfort of your air conditioned home. The George Foreman Grill has been around a long time for good reason. It's a quick (and cool) way to grill meats, veggies, and more. There is even a larger version that allows you to cook up to five servings at once. Plus, it comes with plates for waffles and ceramic grill plates (perfect for grilled cheese).
Juicer+: When it's hot, you just want to cool down. A juicer is perfect for those times you want to a cool, refreshing drink. My kids love to make Popsicles from fresh juice as well. The versatile line of Hurom Juicers are easy for kids to use. And they can also make other summer-friendly foods like sorbet, ice cream, yogurt, and more.
O'plancha: The Oplancha Griddle is unique in that it's essentially a little oven that can be used anywhere from the stovetop to the grill to an open fire. It's a great way to cook meats, veggies, fish or even baked goods without turning on the oven.
Slow Cooker: Instapot is legendary for good reason. It can cook an entire meal quickly and all without turning on the oven. If you really want to avoid any heat at all, you can set your Instapot to cook overnight or while you will be out of the house. Use as a pressure cooker, slow cooker, and even back cakes without heating up the entire house. And it even has a sterilization setting to help stay on top of all the dropped pacis that need to be cleaned!
Go Raw: Another option is to skip cooking altogether and go raw. Here are lots of kid-friendly recipes that you can make with what have in the fridge.
Stay cool, everyone! So, what are your favorite summer appliances?
