Sweet Routines: Moms Share Their Bedtime Routines

There’s no time of day that can be more frustrating or sweeter than a bedtime routine. When it all goes well, parents tuck their little ones in and step out of the room with a smile, thinking sweetly of the day they had with their babe. When it doesn't go well, parents might find themselves stepping in and out of the baby’s room over and over, exhausted, frustrated and begging the baby to sleep. We asked real moms to share their sweet routines and found ourselves oohing and awing over the wonderful ways they end the day with their babies!

“I always spend a few minutes snuggling with my baby in my bed and talking about what we did that day before I carry him to his crib to lay him down. Snuggling up before I put him in his crib seems to relax him.”

Jerica

“I’ve nursed my baby to sleep every night since the day he was born. He’s almost two now and I think he’s going to stop nursing soon – when that happens I don’t know what I’ll do at bedtime!”

Juliette

“I let my partner do bedtime with our baby every night while I put our preschooler to bed. Since I’m nursing all day I love to let my partner have some special time with the baby while I get some special time with our older child.”

Azia

“I read to my daughter every night. Even though she’s only six months old I can tell she has favorite books and she loves to turn the pages as I read. I can’t wait to read her some of my favorite books when she gets older!”

Violette

“I give my baby a bath right before bedtime each night and use lavender scented soap. The warm bath plus the scented soap makes him so sleepy he can hardly keep his eyes open while I put on his pajamas. By the time I put him in his crib he’s already nodding off.”
