6 Ways to Honor Your Dad-to-Be

Let’s face it, we get a lot of attention when we’re pregnant.

Which is, of course, as it should be.

We are, after all, the ones growing an actual human being inside of us. But this Father’s Day, I will begrudgingly admit that it may be time to acknowledge that special man in our lives with just a little thanks and appreciation.

And while I’m not advocating that we all need to take on the attitude of my mother-in-law, who burst into the hospital room minutes after I had given birth to our first daughter and exclaimed, “Oh, you look so tired, honey!” except she wasn’t talking to me, she was addressing my husband, who responded, “I am exhausted!” I will still dutifully point you in the direction of some great gift ideas.

Way #1 Father’s Day “Medal.” This one is easy, thus it is the perfect present for a pregnant woman to give. Click, print, and garnish your favorite beverage for a simple way to say that he is appreciated. And just think – soon you can both enjoy that beverage, assuming it is alcoholic, of course. Which, why wouldn’t it be?

Way #2 If you’re having a boy, I think this book is just the sweetest idea. I love the thought of starting that wisdom that only a father can bring on early in the game.

Way #3 Consider surprising him by planning a last-minute babymoon getaway. Even a night at a local hotel will do the trick. He might really love some alone time with you before it’s gone for say, oh, the next 18 years…

Way #4 Go all classic on him with a box of pink or blue cigars to pass out to his buddies. Or, if you’re the non-smoking type, try this chocolate-covered pretzel version.

Way #5 This Father’s Day journal available on Etsy would be perfect for those introspective types. Your man might appreciate a space to journal this thoughts on impending fatherhood or to start a collection of letters to his son or daughter.

Way #6

You’ve heard of diaper cakes, right? Well call me crazy, but I think that the new dad in your life might just appreciate this version – made of beer cans – a little bit more.

These are a lot of great ideas. My fiance and I have decided that we won’t be celebrating out first mother’s/father’s day until after the baby is born, so I will definitely keep these in mind for when we have our second child.
