Get Your Pregnant Date Night On!
When it comes to date night, I will admit that I’m a little on the vanilla side. Dinner and a movie made up my husband and I’s first date, and our formula hasn’t changed much.
I’m always on the lookout for ways to shake up the romance a little, and pregnancy is the perfect time to take the opportunity to try out some new date night ideas—before you need a babysitter!
I came across some ridiculously cute date night ideas from Brittany at The Lily Field that meet me my three criteria for a fun and pregnant date night: cute, easy, and cheap! She and her husband plan fun and spontaneous date nights every month for each other and although I can barely manage to plan dinner every night for my family, I can manage to steal some of these adorable ideas!
Homemade Crossword Puzzle Night. Create a custom crossword puzzle for your man and enjoy laughing together as he figures out the clues. Put a fun extra romantic spin on it for your anniversary or his birthday by creating a puzzle out of all the things you love about him. Or make it a twosome and swap puzzles about each other.
Vacation at Home. Pick a dream destination that you’d like to travel to someday with your spouse and plan an entire night around it. Brittany picked up some books from the library about the Caribbean and cooked up some easy and authentic snacks as they planned their future vacay together. Bonjour, anyone?
Fondue by Candelight. Brittany says, “There is definitely something romantic about dipping your food into warm sauces by candlelight and sharing it with your favorite man/woman! To add to the scenery, a white-sheet canopy hung across the ceiling, suspended by ropes. Fondue in a whimsical tent with candles? Sign me up.” Try it with chocolate and strawberries for Valentine’s!
Iron Chef at Home. This is such a fun idea. Pick up a basket full of “secret” ingredients for your spouse and watch them whip up a culinary masterpiece for both of you. Be sure the ingredients are a little out of the ordinary and have a takeout number handy, just in case!
Love Scavenger Hunt. Your mission? To find three items under a dollar that say “I love you.” Brittany says, “You can pretty much do this one anywhere, but we chose the mall. We found a sugar cookie from the Tollhouse booth for Nathan, a large fountain Pepsi for Brittany, and a chair massage for the both of us!”
Do you try to get creative with your date nights or do you keep it simple? Which of these ideas might you try?
