Mom Hack: Put a Wine Dispenser in Your Fridge
Like many mothers, I enjoy a clever parenting hack when I see one. I will most likely pin it to my Pinterest board to join the 10 million other pins that I forget about until a few years later when the pin resurfaces and I come across it and think, ‘Wow, this is great! I should do this!” and then pin it again until the circle of life is complete.
But one woman just came up with ultimate mom hack — if you like wine, that is.
Clare Potts, a 28-year-old blogger from Manchester, posted a picture on her Twitter account that made wine waves across the Web:
You have to love the caption, because what says reaching peak adulthood more than a fridge full of wine? The image, which has officially been retweeted over 73,000 times, made headlines everywhere, from Mashable to Buzzfeed, leading Potts to joke that she now has the most “famous fridge” in the entire world. I mean, #goals, right?
It turns out that Potts didn't turn her fridge into a 24/7 wine dispenser like I was kind of hoping she did. The story was much more tame. She and her boyfriend, Joe, recently purchased their first home together and were thrilled to discover that it came with a wine rack. And as adults do, she immediately started dreaming about what she could do with that built-in wine rack.
Putting two and two together, like the lifestyle blogger that she is, Potts was struck with an idea. Potts decided to improvise a clever wine dispenser by pouring bottled wine directly into the water container, allowing her to dispense chilled wine whenever she darn well pleases. The Internet went wild with the idea, leading many people to wonder the exact same thing I did — why on Earth has no one done this before?
I wonder how many wine dispenser in the fridge recreations have been attempted since Potts' picture went viral (including attempts gone terribly wrong). But either way, it's a great mom hack if you're a parent who enjoys some wine at night.
Crazy as it sounds, I'm not a huge wino mother. I know it's fun and cool to joke about wine for mothers and I do enjoy the occasional glass now and then. I'm more a one-glass-every-few-months mother as opposed to a turn-my-fridge-into-a-wine-dispenser mother. But hey, to each her own.
Are you a wine-loving mom?
