Mom Confessions: I Never Thought I Would …
When I was single and childless, I had a long list of things I would never EVER do when I had kids. My kids would always have clean faces, never eat in the car, and would not have a cup holder on their car seat. After all, kids can survive without having a drink while we drive around town, right? It turns out that kids wear you down. Five years and three children later, all of my “nevers” have turned to “we do that, but so what?” My kids are happy, healthy, and the loves of my life. It turns out other moms also broke their “my kids will always, my kids will never” rules. I loved learning what other moms let slide in order to survive the early child-rearing years.
1. Let them run like heathens.
“Yeah. My kids totally do. As long as we are either the only people there or out of the way, they can run. Most interestingly, there were three main themes: TV as entertainment, mealtime battles, and sleep.” – Kit Jenkins
2. Watch tv.
“I still feel guilty every time I turn it on so I can actually accomplish something during the day, like, say make them food to eat.” – Sarah Venable
“Having them watch movies!!!!! I NEVER wanted my kids to watch TV at all until they were at least 2. (Bwhahahahahahaahaha.)” – Nadine Medina
3. Use disposable diapers.
“I didn't want to use disposable diapers and even bought the g diapers, yet, after the first liquid blowout, we ran for the disposables and never looked back!” – Cheryl Boiverst Worswick
