Maternity Looks For Winter

The seasons are changing, so pregnant or not – so will your wardrobe. It's great when you can transition some clothing from summer to fall but sometimes you have to go a tiny step further to assure that you'll be warm for those cold months ahead.

Today we have a few outfit inspirations to keep you cozy and comfortable on those chilly winter days and the best part is that these looks will not break the bank!

Maternity Looks for Winter

1. A black dress can go a long way in any wardrobe – maternity wardrobe included. A simple black maternity dress like this one can easily be dressed up for work or an evening out but it can also be a great casual piece to wear around the house or running errands for the day. This particular jersey knit maternity dress will provide maximum comfort for your growing baby bump.  Simply dress it up with accessories to achieve the look you are striving for, whether it be casual everyday wear or an evening out.  The holidays are right around the corner so it would make for a versatile wardrobe staple that you are sure to get a lot of use out of.

2. There is something about this oxblood color that instantly feels warm.  Sometimes sweaters can feel a little too constrictive so it's nice to have a few great long sleeve tops like this jersey neck top. If it's a cooler day you can easily add a sweater or a great printed scarf to add some dimension and interest to your look. The lower camel color ankle boot and a leopard clutch are the perfect casual compliments to this outfit.

3. Nothing says cozy comfort like an over-sized cowl neck sweater dress. Add a pair of leggings to add extra warmth and keep within the neutral palette by wearing a pair of leopard print flats. Add a little bling with a statement ring which will compliment those shoes and wear a pair of simple hoop earrings to complete the look.

4. Yet another comfortable top is the slub-knit, split neck, long sleeved t-shirt. It's a good idea to have a few of these in your closet, especially black and white because it's that “go-to” top that will get a lot of use on those casual no frills kind of days. I've paired this look with skinny maternity jeans, but really anything goes – even a pair of sweat pants.

All of these maternity looks can be mixed and matched together to achieve different looks.  A few basic maternity staples like a black dress and a few slub-knit t-shirts, along with a great pair of jeans can go a long way during those chilly winter months.

I was a late starter, having my first child when I was 26. I am now 46 and expecting child number 6…Woo! With my first 3, born basically 18 months apart, I was all about staying fit, getting slim and trim back as quickly as possible, so I ate healthy and exercised. I remember how shocked the nurses and doctors were after taking my precious baby away to clean and weigh. Upon them bringing him back to present him to the anxiously waiting mother…they had found that during that 45 minutes I had curled my hair, put on my full face makeup, and was changed into my pretty nightgown I brought, bought specifically made so that I could breast feed!! Hey, just because I had just had a baby, it did not mean I had to look worn out and used up!! I knew it would be visitor and picture time, and I wanted myself and new precious baby to shine in the photos, and to family and friends. I have did this with all 5 children and plan on doing it again with precious, albeit unexpected, number 6! Yes, I am stiletto type Mom. But, my children are more important to me than all the makeup and hairdo, I just felt energized after having my babies and wanted to present a put together, ready to start motherhood, with my best face, hair, and outfit to go forward in!
