How to Make Money From Home as a Parent

For many parents, the cost of childcare is more, or only slightly less, than they would bring home if they kept working. This leaves them in the position of staying at home with their little one and, while being a stay at home parent can bring a lot of joy, not being able to work due to the cost of childcare can make it hard to make ends meet.

If you’re a stay at home parent who wants to make money from home without putting your child in child care than there are a few serious constraints on what you can do. Any job you take must allow you to work with your kid or kids in tow, it must allow for some flexibility and it needs to lead to an actual paycheck.

While MLM or multi-level-marketing businesses might seem like they meet the criteria above, particularly because they advertise being able to work from your phone with your kiddos along for the ride, the reality is that, despite big promises, almost no one makes money as a consultant for a company with an MLM structure. Instead of investing your time and money into something you’ll almost certainly lose money on, check out the ideas below for real ways you can make money as a stay at home parent.
