Kristin Cavallari on Motherhood before Marriage
First comes love, and then comes marriage, and then comes a baby carriage…but only if you’re going by the old playground song! These days, parenthood can come at any time – or even not at all. This week, some celebrity moms and dads dish on their family planning choices.
Kristin Cavallari and her husband, NFL player Jay Cutler, had a rocky road to parenthood. The couple were engaged in April 2011 after eight months of dating, called off the engagement, then got re-engaged last year – and then discovered they were expecting mere weeks after their on-again-off-again romance was “on”! Although she didn’t take the “traditional” route, Kristin Cavallari told The Bump she wouldn’t have changed a thing. “We weren’t ready to get married then and so we put everything on hold [and] ended up having the baby before. Everything happens for a reason and it all works out how it’s supposed to,” Cavallari explained. Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler’s son, Camden Jay, was born in August 2012; the couple tied the knot this past June.
Despite the seemingly endless stream of celebrity bump-watches, there are some actresses in Hollywood who aren’t quite ready to have their own bundle of joy. Eva Longoria, who has had success in television (including a starring role in “Desperate Housewives” and an acting and production role in “Devious Maids”) hasn’t been so lucky on the family front. Married twice (her marriage to Tony Parker ended in 2010), Eva Longoria now says she doesn’t want to have a baby just to have a baby, and if she never becomes a mother, she is at peace with it. “I’m not one of those women that’s like, ‘Oh, I must procreate!’…kids are a product of love, so if you find the right person….then that’s when the time is right,” Eva Longoria told Access Hollywood Live.

For Simon Cowell and his baby mama, Lauren Silverman, parenthood has been a, well, interesting journey. Lauren was married to Cowell’s best friend, Andrew Silverman, before she hooked up with Cowell and became pregnant with his child. In a moment, Simon Cowell’s days of single living were over, but he seems to be embracing his new role – and even hinting at the “Big M”. When asked about marriage, Simon told Ryan Seacrest, “Let’s put it this way, I wouldn’t expect her to be a single mother.” He added, “Lauren and I get along really well and once I got used to the idea, I thought, ‘I think this is going to be very good.’” Good thing you’ve come to that conclusion, Simon…your baby is coming, like it or not!
