Do You Know a Child with Cancer? Here’s How to Give Them a Free Year of Joy
Research shows every 3 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide. It’s likely that one of those children goes to your child’s school or dance studio, that one of those children is your nephew or neighbor, or even that one of those children is your own.
A diagnosis can be painful, overwhelming, and confusing. But there is help for that. Encouragement, to help children with cancer Never Ever Give Up.
Jessie Rees was a beautiful, althetic, giving girl who was diagnosed with and fought two brain tumors before her death in 2012. During her treatment, she asked her parents how they could help the other children receiving treatment at Children’s Hospital of Orange County. She spent ten months fighting cancer herself while also personally stuffing and sending out 3000 Joy Jars to other children fighting cancer. She encouraged them by sharing her personal motto and message: NEGU – Never Ever Give Up.
Because Jessie believed so strongly in helping and never stopping, her family has continued her mission through her foundation, offering support to children, families, and hospitals and other caregivers. They’ve been successful in raising funds and reaching over 125,000 kids in all 50 states and 30 countries.
But they need your help. Not for fundraising – although we’d never stop you from giving – but for identifying more kids and families who can benefit from the awareness, resources, and encouragement that the Jessie Rees Foundation and NEGU can offer. That’s where we at EverydayFamily are working to help. We’ve got so many great members that we know can help us spread the word and find more children who deserve a boost of joy!
