Thank You for For Joining the Fight Against Pediatric Cancer with EverydayFamily and LLS
Back in September, we made a simple request on our Facebook wall and on our site: To join us in one big fight against one small word. We told our wonderful community that each new Like on our page would be equal to one dollar donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. And join in you did.
Over the last few months, you have shared our page with friends and family. We’re happy to report that we gained more than 18,000 new Likes during this campaign. Your voices helped us to make a difference to these children affected by blood cancers.
It’s a great number of people – and we welcome each and every one! But it was too close for us to stop there, so we decided to go ahead and up the number to a nice round $20,000. That’s right – you were all a part of an amazing donation to a worthwhile cause. As a small thanks, we've selected on of our members, karrahbear, to receive a $250 Amazon Gift Card as a token of our appreciation for getting involved. We want you to feel good about what you’ve done. We hope you’ll feel so good about it that you’ll do something more.
Because while we’ve made strides toward important goals, there is always more to be done. And so we’re going to keep working, and we hope you will, too. This was a simple way to get involved – Liking a page on Facebook. There are other simple ways, too.
- Share more information about the LLS – or any number of other charities working to help families and children. You can find more of the charities we love and support on our CARES page. Getting the word out there is the first step.
- Volunteer your time. Whether that means moving boxes for a local food bank or helping a start-up organization work on their finances, you have skills that can help others. Discover what they are and share them – you are a gift.
- Teach your children the importance of charity. The best and most lasting way to ensure that we raise a generation of kind-hearted souls is by living the example. Encourage them to share the coins in their piggy bank and the love in their hearts. Open their minds to the advantages they have – and what they can do to help those who may not have the same luxuries. Raise them up to be citizens of the world. Remind them that the word philanthropy comes from Latin – it means love for mankind.
