Jessica’s Having a Boy; Taylor Swift Brings Controversy

New babies, unplanned announcements and a good old-fashioned feud – that sums up the week in celebrity news!

Jessica Simpson will be trading in the pink ruffles for baby blue when her baby is born later this year! Jessica and her fiancé, Eric Johnson, will be blessed with a baby boy, joining big sister Maxwell. Jessica has played coy about the gender of baby #2 during her recent talk show rounds, and accidently spilled the news during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel. While dishing about her perpetual morning sickness, Jessica Simpson said, “The crazy thing is, I never knew a wiener could make me nauseous.” After she realized what she said, she added, “Well, I guess I just told the world that I’m having a boy!” How’s that for a creative (if unplanned!) pregnancy announcement?

It’s been awhile since we experienced a good, old-fashioned feud between celebrities. Luckily, controversy courting Taylor Swift gave women everywhere something to talk about after she dissed Golden Globes hosts Amy Pohler and Tina Fey for making Taylor the butt of one of their jokes. During the ceremony in mid-January, Tina Fey and Amy Pohler joked that Taylor should “stay away” from Michael J. Fox’s son Sam, who was Mr. Golden Globes at this year’s ceremony. Taylor responded in a Vanity Fair article by quoting Madeleine Albright: “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.” Amy Pohler responded that she would be going to hell, but for other reasons (“Mostly boring tax stuff”), while Tina Fey said “I feel bad if she was upset” (the classic non-apology!)

Viewers have followed the Duggar Family, stars of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, as the family has expanded – and now it will be growing even more! Jim Bob Duggar and his wife Michelle Duggar are expecting…..another grandchild! Their eldest son, Josh, and his wife, Anna, are pregnant with their third child, who will join daughter Mackynzie, 3, and son Michael, 21 months. Anna is about six months into her pregnancy, and they broke the news by hosting a dinner for the entire family with baby carrots, baby corn and small cherry tomatoes. The couple knows the sex of the baby, but they aren’t sharing…hey, maybe Jimmy Kimmel can book Anna and Josh and get them to spill the details!

Our America host Lisa Ling can add another item to her resume: Mom. She and her husband, oncologist Dr. Paul Song, welcomed a baby girl last Friday in Santa Monica California. Their daughter, named Jett, weighed in at 6 lbs., 6 oz., and was a joyful addition after Lisa experienced a miscarriage in 2010. The newborn will be bunking in a eco-friendly nursery, but Lisa Ling said she wasn’t completely sure she’d use cloth diapers as the eco-friendly diapering solution: “I ‘d like to be ambition about it, but in all honest I can’t say that I will.” Either way, “enjoy” cleaning up that mess!

Do you think Taylor Swift is taking the Amy Pohler, Tina Fey jokes too seriously? Were you a cloth diapering mom – what advice would you offer to Lisa Ling to stick with her ambitions to diaper her little one in this way?
