Jessica Alba Won’t Judge You
Jessica Alba has really come into her own since becoming a mom. The actress has taken her love for her children and the need to provide a safe, healthy environment for them and turned it into a successful business, The Honest Company. She has also written a book called, The Honest Life. However, even though she has made a living by being “green” she says that she does not judge parents who take a different path.
In a recent interview with People she says, “When you become a mom, the last thing you want to do is feel judged because everybody is trying to do the best they can.” She goes onto talk about all of the hot debates that mothers face including breastfeeding, working, and school. In every instance, she relates how she feels like just because someone makes a different choice than you does not mean that it was the wrong choice.
Her take on not judging other mothers is refreshing, and something I think we all should strive for. As I write this blog, I think it calls for some opinion or judgment on my part. However, even when I vehemently disagree with something, I still try to look at their side of things. I know that as a parent I have made some decisions that others would see as wrong, from allowing my children to use electronics frequently to not breastfeeding past six months and circumcising my boys; but those are all things that work for my life and my family. Now I am not advocating ignoring blatant abuse situations or not saying something when you feel a parent is not aware of another option, but handling any situation with respect is important. We as parents need to come together to raise responsible future citizens, not rip each other apart.
Do you judge other parents?
