Not long ago, Halle Berry talked about her daughter Nahla’s prayers for a sibling – and it looks like her wishes worked! News broke late last week that Halle, 46, is expecting her second child. This will be the first child with fiancé Olivier Martinez, 47. Halle told CNN the pregnancy was a shock to the couple: “This has been the biggest surprise of my life….I thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me.” The pregnancy announcement comes on the heels of an explosive argument between the couple and waiting paparazzi at LAX last week (resulting in Halle physically restraining an angry Olivier.) The new baby (reportedly a boy, although other reports say Halle is 12 weeks along) will add a new dimension to the already dramatic family dynamic; Halle and Olivier have a contentious relationship with Nahla’s father (and Halle’s ex) Gabirel Aubry. Congrats to the couple and for Nahla, who will finally get the baby brother or sister she’s been longing for!
Country music took center stage Sunday at the 2013 ACM Awards in Las Vegas, hosted by country stars Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton. The ceremony featured amazing performances by Miranda Lambert, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Hunter Hayes, and Brad Paisley (with John Mayer!?) Taylor Swift rocked the crowd with Tim McGraw and Keith Urban. Taylor Swift, who was the reigning Entertainer of the Year, lost the title to co-host Luke Bryan (even though she Tweeted incessantly throughout the show for her fans’ votes.)

The looks on the ACM Red Carpet were pure country class. Shania Twain, who has been away from the ACM stage for a decade, presented Entertainer of the Year in a sexy strapless (and backless!) black dress, over-the-knee boots and loose wavy hair. Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum, showed off her growing baby bump in a custom navy dress and peep toe pumps, Kimberly Perry from The Band Perry rocked a gorgeous white dress with a beaded bodice, and Sheryl Crow (a relative newbie to the country scene) worked a bold fashion choice: a strapless navy “onesie” with bell-bottoms – onesies, they aren’t just for babies anymore!
This week in celebrity gossip wasn’t all glam dresses and sweet baby bumps. In sad news out of Hollywood, Annette Funicello, the original Girl-Next-Door to a generation, passed away Monday after a battle with Multiple Sclerosis. The star of the original Mickey Mouse Club in the mid-50s, Annette starred in a variety of Disney TV movies, such as The Shaggy Dog and Zorro, moving on to a more grown-up role in Beach Party, a surprise hit that spawned several sequels. Annette is known to the Baby Boomers as a beautiful but wholesome star, but in her later years was confined to a wheelchair. Her husband, daughter and two sons survive Annette. M…I…C…see you soon, Annette.
