Get the Look! Emily Blunt: Day to Night
Emily Blunt was spotted visiting Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles earlier this month. The 30-year-old actress and her husband John Krasinski, who is known for his role on The Office as Jim Halpert, are pregnant with their first child. Emily and her baby bump were looking adorable in this casual, down-to-earth ensemble that exudes a simple style that we can all relate to.
I chose to create her look since she doesn't dress herself in over the top, unattainable clothing. I've taken the look a step further and provided not only a day look but included a few accessories that will take this casual look from day to night.
A simple pair of black pants and a white top is a great base for creating an array of outfits. The pairing can be worn on the most casual of days, or you can add some fabulous accessories and you will have created a perfect, yet comfortable, look for an evening out.
For the re-creation of Emily's look, I've chosen a simple, white long-sleeved t-shirt with a pair of black pants, then I added a black and gray printed scarf for both the day and the evening looks.
Sport a daytime look similar to Emily's with a pair of black-tipped neutral flats and an oversized black tote—perfect for a day of running errands. Since the days are getting cooler, I've also added a fashionable black hat that will work well with this look.
Glam it up for the evening with a pair of two-toned, sparkly, fanned droplet earrings that are a chic addition with their large statement crystals. Current trends are all about the simple foldover clutch. The sleek design of this black clutch will make the look appear more polished and evening ready. These shoes are sure to grab the crowd's attention with the ankle strap and sparkly pattern, not to mention they are both elegant and timeless. It's important to keep comfort in mind when you're pregnant, so if heels are not your thing, these shoes can easily be swapped out for a pair of black pointed toe flats that will look just as polished. Take the look a step further and add a great blazer or fashionable vest.
The base of this outfit is just how we like it – very inexpensive – and the great thing is that you don't have to invest in more maternity items that are only going to last through the duration of your pregnancy and possibly a few months postpartum. By adding a few simple accessories, like bags and shoes that you already own, you can easily create many looks.
How do you take a simple day look and make it work for a night out?
