5 Ways to Send Your Love to School

With the start of a new school year, parents across the country will be packing up their little one's bookbag, loading up their lunchboxes, and sending them off into the big wide world. While a new school year certainly brings lots of joy, there are often also feelings of sadness that a little one is growing up and hopes that they know just how loved they are even with you’re not with them. If you are sending your little one off to school this year and want to make sure they know just how loved they are, consider sending a little bit of your love along with them each day. Check out the list below for ideas of how!

Send a note

Sending a love note to school is a classic way to let a child know they’re loved. Take a moment each evening as you pack their lunch, or each morning as you pack their book bag, to scribble a quick note about why you love them and tuck it into their bag or lunch box for them to find during the day.

Pack a favorite food

When your child opens their lunchbox and finds a favorite meal, they’ll know just how special to you they are. Instead of opting for peanut butter and jelly each day, pick a few nights out of the month to make a favorite dinner and stock enough away for the next day’s lunch.

Hide a little drawing

If your child’s not a reader yet, or if you’re not sure what to say in a note, consider sending along a little sketch to let them know you adore them. When your little one opens their note to find a picture you drew of you and them they won’t care about your artistic ability, they’ll care that you took the time to do something special for them.

Make a secret signal

Saying goodbye at the classroom door can be tough on that first day. Instead of letting them cling to you as you attempt to make your exit, consider coming up with a special handshake or goodbye routine. A little routine or signal not only help ease separation challenges but can let them know they’re the apple of your eye.

Pick a time to think about each other

If your little one is feeling a little stressed about being away from you, let them know you’ll be thinking about them throughout the day. Pick a time (or a few times) and let them know that at those times you’ll be thinking of them and sending a kiss their way. When your babe looks at the clock and realizes they have a kiss coming their way they’re sure to feel adored.
