EF Cares Spotlight: The Ultimate Ugly Word

It's that bad word, that hovering black cloud that threatens all of us with its potential to take over our lives or the lives of those that we love. We can do little to control its onset for the majority of cases and it's hard to know our risk with definitive clarity.

Cancer. The ultimate ugly word.

If you're anything like me, this threat is a lingering thought, that seems to creep in more and more with age, not only in regards to myself, but those that I love as well. I'm already facing scares and real battles with people close to me. It's disheartening and concerning.

“This is an extremely important cause to me, personally,” said Noah. “Getting involved and helping all of those who have been affected by blood cancers can make a difference. We are thankful for everyone who is joining us in support of this cause.”

Here's the thing – cancer affects all ages, all races, and does not discriminate between male and female. Sure, there are some types that prefer one sex or another, but even breast cancer can happen to a man.

The ‘C' word…it's a dirty word, and a harsh reality of our lives since we do not have a cure to date.

Our CEO here at EverydayFamily, Noah Anderson,  feels a sincere connection to this cause of curing cancer. He has been deeply moved by the children who are afflicted with Leukemia, a blood cancer, and has spent many years on his local board of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, raising money and spreading awareness within his local community. In addition to donating his time, he has always dedicated funds from EverydayFamily to the cause. Now he wants to ensure that we add even more – a voice to that cause, and to many others, here on the blogs in an effort to help others find a passion for giving back and helping others.

“This is an extremely important cause to me, personally,” said Noah. “Getting involved and helping all of those who have been affected by blood cancers can make a difference. We are thankful for everyone who is joining us in support of this cause.”

In previous years, EverydayFamily has been privileged to host a booth at the Light the Night event as one way to show that giving back is so important to us. LLS is an organization we believe in and feel is doing its best to find a cure for this version of a devastating disease.

While Noah was particularly moved by the children affected by Leukemia, a fact which ultimately drove him to act and make this cause his passion, this is a form of cancer that truly does not discriminate.

Here are some quick facts:

We here at EverydayFamily are always looking for ways to better the lives of others through our EF Cares initiative. We hope by sharing what we – as a company, as a family, and as individuals – are most passionate about, we might help others to find their charitable passion as well. If the LLS cause speaks to you, you can join the efforts of the organization by simply sharing this post, donating your time at one of their Light the Night events, or by taking care of your own health while simultaneously raising money through their Team in Training events.
