This is the Craziest “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” Story Ever

By now, many of us have heard a story or two about women who didn't know they were pregnant.

We marvel at the stories, shaking our heads at how it can be even remotely possible for someone not to realize that she was pregnant — in my case, I even get a little envious, because dang, it would be kind of nice to skip over the whole morning sickness and feeling so uncomfortable you can't breathe bit and go right to the baby, am I right?

But still, I've heard so many of those stories they are nothing to me, even as much as they amaze me. This story, however, seriously takes the cake for the craziest ever “didn't know I was pregnant” story. I'm still shaking my head at it.

The woman who just won all the “didn't know I was pregnant” stories is Amanda Francis, a 26-year-old chef from CT. Her story was featured in The Sun, among other news outlets, because the young mother shared how she actually took six negative pregnancy tests before finally discovering that she was pregnant — while she was in labor.

When she first missed her period Francis wondered if she could be pregnant, but pregnancy test after pregnancy test came back negative, so the adventurous and active woman just chalked it up to a fluke. She kept on her daily activities, including rock climbing, road-tripping across the country, and sitting for a five-hour tattoo session. She even accidentally took a tumble down the stairs and of course, didn't seek any special medical treatment at the time, because she had no idea that she was pregnant.

It wasn't until a routine check-up that Francis had some blood work drawn and her doctor informed her that she was about two months along. Francis was shocked and had barely begun to process the emotions and realization that she was pregnant when she began experiencing severe cramps.

Thinking that she was having a miscarriage, she went to the hospital, crying for the baby she hadn't even had a chance to get to know. But at the hospital, she was in for yet another shock, when the doctor there informed that she was actually not two months pregnant, but eight months pregnant. And wait, there's more and if you guessed that those cramps were actually contractions, you were right. In less than 24 hours, Francis had learned that she was pregnant, thought she was miscarrying a baby she had just learned about, and then was told it was all wrong and she actually in labor with her baby.

Talk about a whirlwind night, right?

This story does have a happy ending, though. Francis' son, Kellin was born healthy on July 20th, 2016 and weighed 4 pounds and 3 ounces. Although the new mom had some adjustment to becoming a mother (and who wouldn't, with no time whatsoever to prepare??), the new family is doing well now.

Now, you may want to go check all your pregnancy tests that ever came back negative. You know, just in case.
