Christina Applegate Unsure About Having More Kids

There is no question that as we age things that we used to be able to do — like surviving on little sleep — are not as easy, nor do they hold much appeal. While some brood about the lack of energy when it comes to doing everyday things and are wistful for their younger years; Applegate sees her age and general tiredness as a sign that more children may not be in the cards for her and husband Martyn LeNoble.

The actress who gained fame for her roles in Married with Children and Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitters Dead said recently, “I’m 41 years old and I don’t know if I could do the whole not sleeping thing again. If I was 35, then maybe I’d have the energy.” While she might not be adding to her family anytime soon (she has one daughter, 2-year-old Sadie, and a stepdaughter, 16-year-old Marlon) she doesn’t rule out the possibility all together.

Having the energy to deal with having the number of children I wanted was one of the reasons I had my kids in my twenties. My plan, for as long as I can remember, was to have all my kids before I reached 30.

Having the energy to deal with having the number of children I wanted was one of the reasons I had my kids in my twenties. My plan, for as long as I can remember, was to have all my kids before I reached 30.

That way I would not only have the energy to handle the demands of mothering three children but I would also still be relatively young when my youngest left home, leaving me and my husband with many years of active life after kids.

I know how utterly exhausting my children are for me even as young as I am. I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for women who are able to handle that exhaustion even at an older age where general life makes you exhausted. I wonder if Applegate regrets waiting to have children? It seems she is content with having only one, and she got her adventures done early, where I will have my adventures later in life. Luckily, there is no steadfast rule on when you should have children and what works best for one mom obviously isn’t the right choice for another.

Did you wait to have kids or get the baby years out of the way early?

my hubby had his first born at 20, and we had our first born at 24 (were same age), and im preggy with our second, were now 28, and while i like how im younger and i feel better able to keep up with my kids at my age now, then if i waited till my 30s or later to have my first, i also kinda wish that we hadnt actually started with kids till later in our 20s, as being a mommy at 20 kinda made me miss out on a lot of the fun my friends without kids were having. but i dont regret our decisions in the least bit.

I am 33 and about to have my first child. It has been an exhausting pregnancy and I wonder if it would have been a little easier in my 20’s. However, having children then wasn’t in the stars for me as I had hoped when I was in my early twenties. It took time to find Mr. Right and to get to a place where we could afford having a child. I always wanted three, but not sure I can go through pregnancy again. We have already begun discussing adoption for more children.
