Celebrate Spring Without Spending a Dime

While the first day of spring was March 20th, many people don’t recognize the season until the weather begins to warm and they can begin to head outside with their kiddos without spending what can feel like hours bundling them into their winter coats. That time is officially here in many parts of the country! And, after a long, cold winter, families all over are on the hunt for simple ways they can celebrate the change of season and get ready to spend more time in the sunshine. Check out the ways below that your family can celebrate spring without spending a dime!

Have a picnic

While they might not feel new and exciting to parents, most kids love picnics for their novelty. This week, when the weather is warm and the sun is shining, make the decision to take your dinner outside. While heading to a park can be nice, your kiddos will likely enjoy a picnic on your front stoop or in your backyard just as much!

Take the toys outside

You don’t need special toys for your kids to enjoy playing outside. Next time your kids start to play inside, encourage them each to pick a toy or two and head outside. Sit with your kids as they play their regular games and enjoy soaking up the sunshine!

Break out the garden tools

Because they love to help, kids often really enjoy doing yard or garden work. If you’ve got a little bit of grassy or garden space, consider inviting your kiddo to help you make it spring ready. Rake up leaves, pull weeds, or plant new seeds and watch them sprout as the season progresses.

Read outside

Next time you’re inclined to snuggle up and read with your little one, consider grabbing a blanket and heading outside to snuggle up under the sun or stars. As you read to your little one, enjoy the breeze on your face, the sun on your shoulders, and your baby's head resting against you!

Play!

There’s nothing kids love more than when their parent plays with them. With the weather warming up there’s no excuse not to slip into your play clothes and head outside for a game of tag or hide-and-seek with your favorite people in the world.
