Lisa Ling Shows Off Her Little Miracle; Billboards 2013 recap
Lisa Ling, TV journalist, and her husband, oncologist Paul Song, showed off their little bundle of joy, Jett Ling Song, in an exclusive US Weekly spread. Jett was born March 8, and was considered a miracle by the couple, who had experienced several miscarriages. Lisa told US Weekly, “We weren’t trying….my travel schedule is erratic, and I only saw Paul once a month.” Lisa Ling described the miracle of feeling her child move for the first time. “Paul and I stayed in bed all weekend with our hands on my stomach.” Any mom who has endured infertility struggles to have their child knows what an amazing feeling that is!
Summer is almost here, and so are the fun, youthful awards shows catering to the younger crowd. The first of these (which include the MTV Movie Awards and the Video Music Awards) is the Billboard Music Awards, which showcase the glitz and glamour and pizzazz of the music industry. Because many of us are too “old” to keep up with these youngsters (it’s all relative when you have kiddos in the house) here is a recap of the best and worst moments of the show. You know, so you can have something to talk to the babysitter about.
First, the performances. Surprisingly, Taylor Swift didn’t perform – psych (an awards show isn’t an awards show without a T-Swift performance.) In one camera shot, Taylor Swift started her performance of “22” walking through hallways, up stairs, on a bicycle and through the crowd at the MGM Grand – while rockin’ a glittery unicorn shirt emblazoned with “haters gonna hate.” Sending a message, Taylor?
Is Justin Bieber’s star beginning to fade? After months of scandalous behavior and tabloid gossip, Bieber won the first ever Milestone Award (a fan-voted award that also included Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift.) Cee Lo announced his name as the award winner and the Biebs walked on stage to boos; not one boo, not two boos, but a chorus of boos. Although Justin Bieber eventually silenced the critics, an awkward 57 seconds went by before Justin was able to take the stage and accept his award. Billboard disused various reasons for the boos (everything from angry Bruno Mars fans to Bieber fatigue from the audience.) Hope you’ve been investing those profits, Biebs.
Not long ago, Jessica Simpson would have been the main attraction at the Billboard awards, but these days, she’s taking on a more domestic role. Jessica, who was spotted out and about in Calabasas, California wearing a super-tight spandex (holy baby bump!), told Ellen DeGeneres that she’s taking a healthier approach to eating during this pregnancy. “I’m not really craving as much and I know how hard it is to take the weight off, so I’m trying to make healthier, wiser decisions,” the singer said. Jessica is set to give birth to #2 in August.
Did you watch the Billboard awards? Would you wear tight spandex during your third trimester, like Jessica Simpson?
