Bethenny Frankel on Her Struggles

Bethenny Frankel is having a pretty tough year. In December of 2012, the reality star announced that she and her husband Jason Hoppy were getting a divorce. Though, at the time, Bethenny hoped that the divorce would be amicable, the situation has quickly deteriorated into one of the more hostile and bizarre divorces in Hollywood.

“I'm going through a brutal, brutal time. It really, really is. I mean, there's no other way to slice it.”

Because the pair have not been able to decide who will get the house, they still live there together, nine months later.  They also cannot come to an agreement as to who will gain full custody of their daughter Bryn.

I cannot imagine how difficult living with my soon-to-be ex-husband would be; not to mention dealing with childish stunts, such as still wearing a wedding ring nine months after the divorce process began. On the other hand, I feel like some of this she has brought upon herself. Frankel has a successful business and could move out of the home she shares with Hoppy, if she chooses. Instead, they seem to be fighting about this small thing; and in the end, is bringing more bitterness and fighting into her daughter’s life.

She recently said, “”I'm going through a brutal, brutal time. It really, really is. I mean, there's no other way to slice it.” While Frankel feels like she let down her fans by ending her marriage in divorce, saying, “I could have stayed on the show and been like, ‘Oh everything's perfect with us. Everything's great … It made me feel dirty for people to think that I had this perfect relationship and this perfect life.'” In the end, choosing to divorce her husband of three years was the best choice for both her and Bryn.

One thing, for sure, is that Bethenny is looking forward to turning a corner with the debut of her new talk show (and soon, will be the hopeful finalization of her divorce).

I get that not all divorces can or should be amicable; but I think that sometimes, as adults, we have to put aside our feelings of hurt and do what is best for our children – not what is best for our egos.

I don’t completely agree with divorce but sometimes it is the choice.
