Belt Allows Dads To Feel Baby Kicking

When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I couldn’t wait for my husband to feel her kick.

I’d sit, huge and propped up with pillows on our couch, eagerly anticipating the moment when I would feel her fluttery kicks growing stronger by the minute.

As soon as I’d feel her little foot against my abdomen, I’d call my husband over with a wave of my hand,

“Hurry! The baby’s kicking! You have to feel this!”

He’d rush to my side, placing his hand over the child we had created together, looking lovingly into my eyes, and then in wonder at my belly…

And then she’d stop kicking, of course.

Doesn’t it always seem to go that way?

It felt like whenever my baby would be kicking, as soon as I’d call my husband over to feel her, she would stubbornly stop moving. I was always disappointed that he couldn’t share in the “miracle of life” with me.

It felt like whenever my baby would be kicking, as soon as I’d call my husband over to feel her, she would stubbornly stop moving. I was always disappointed that he couldn’t share in the “miracle of life” with me.

But now, things may have just gotten a little more interesting with an interesting contraption from Huggies–a belt that straps to Dad's belly and allows him to feel his baby kicking.

According to the company, the belt was created in honor of Father’s Day so that fathers could participate more fully in the pregnancy experience.

ABC News writes, “The large white bands cover both parents’ abdomens and are filled with electronic sensors and LED lights. When the baby kicks in the mother’s womb, the movement is replicated in the father’s band, showing up with a quick burst of light and small vibrating impulses wherever the kick landed.”

The official video from Huggies (below) shows expectant fathers chocking back tears as they hold hands with their partners in wonder.

For now, Huggies says the belt was a “one of a kind” tribute and is not being produced for sale.

Which is kind of a bummer, right?

Im lucky my little girl loves to kick her daddy in the womb… this would be cool otherwise

Yes, because a random vibration machine on his stomach will leave him with the same feeling of awe as when he actually feels our offspring kick…but then I could just hit him in the same spot on his stomach and it would be free. “Look Sweetheart! Miracle of life! Pow!” Seriously, as a mother soon to be of number four, I’m rolling my eyes at this poc.

That is neat. I wish my boyfriend would be able to feel our son move. The baby has been moving at random times that I haven’t been able to get my bf to feel my tummy in time.

    That would be sweet.
