This Baby Seeing His Mom For The First Time Is Too Adorable
I'll never forget the first moment my baby interacted with me. She was a few months old and I was standing in the kitchen saying goodbye to her as I prepared to leave her for my night shift as a nurse. We were nose to nose and suddenly, she laughed at me–not like a little gas smile or that fleeting smile that newborns do.
She was full on interacting with me and I was so excited. I remember yelling at my husband to come look and I joked, “Contact! We have established contact!” like I was a NASA controller thrilled to have interacted with an alien life form.
It's those moments of connection with our babies that parents live for. My moment in the kitchen with my baby is definitely topped by this sweet moment captured on video of a baby seeing his mom for the first time after being fitted with his very own adorable baby glasses.
The baby's father, David, posted the video to his Facebook page, explaining that his son was diagnosed with a rare condition called Oculocutaneous Albinism (OCA), which left him with very impaired vision, along with other complications. The albinism causes light skin pigmentation and very light hair and eyes.
“But today he received his glasses,” the proud father wrote. “And can now see the world clearly for the very first time.” And, of course, seeing his world meant seeing his mother for the first time, a moment that was met with all smiles from the adorable little guy.
David's wife, Erin, says that the smile her baby flashed her was a very different kind of smile from what they had seen from him before.
“When he finally did look up that second time and you see that recognition on his face, that’s a smile we just hadn’t really seen before,” she told ABC News. “He’s a pretty happy baby and he smiles and I feel like he generally is pretty happy, but that smile was something that was so different for me to see.”
All of the comments on the video were pretty much similar to my reaction, which was a genuine, “Awwww!” It's just such a nice change of pace to see some happy new for once in the world, right?
