A Python and a Baby Girl — Just the Tightest of Friends

Oh my gosh. I hate snakes! Like, even talking about snakes makes my arms all tingly with anxiety. Just because I'm writing this is making me have fears that a random snake will appear from underneath my bed and bite my ankle.

I'm probably not alone in this. In fact, I know that I'm not alone in this. That's why this video made its way onto the internet.

Jamie Guarino, a guy that's been a snake handler since he was 16 years old, posted a video that showed his then-14-month-old daughter, Alyssa, playing with a massive snake on the floor in their house.

From what I could see in the video, the snake seemed pretty indifferent to her as she rolled around on it and stroked its back. Guarino was extremely adamant in saying that she was “absolutely in no danger.”

I kinda disagree with that statement, but, then again, I'm about as anti-serpent as you can get. I think it's a little ridiculous to say that a pet can't pose a danger to a child. A dog can bite at any time, a cat can scratch at any time, and I would venture to say that a snake could bite, strangle, or any other ungodly thing to a child.

I definitely agree with one of the commenters, who asked, “What if the baby curiously grabs its face or pokes its eye?” I mean, that could be said about any animal (or any person, for that matter), but I just feel like you can get a good feel of how dogs and cats are feeling and what their comfort levels are when you're fooling around with them on the lawn or in the living room.

I, for one, would never want my child, especially at that age, having tummy time that included the culprit that tricked Mr. Adam and Ms. Eve back in the day. I get that pets are good for children, but yeesh! I just get the heebie jeebies just thinking about playing with snakes.

I think you’ve got to be crazy to let your baby play with a huge snake! It could swallow her
