5 Reasons May is The Best Month to Have a Baby
May is the month of birthdays in our house.
Starting with my own birthday (which is starting to get more and more unexciting every year), followed by my oldest daughter's and then my second daughter's. As my husband pointed out, it was most inconvenient that I had them two days apart and not 1) either on the same day to save on party supplies or 2) much further apart so there was no sibling rivalry going on.
I know. Rude. But he was kidding. I think.
Anyways, so the month of May is also a fun one in our home, and although I may be biased, I think May is the best month to have a baby, and here's why:
1. The weather
Bringing home baby in a snowstorm is no fun, guys. May is that perfect combination of not-too-hot and not-too-cold temperatures that makes it easy for you to bring a newborn home from the hospital and enjoy some comfortable-weather snuggles.
2. The walks
Along those lines, easing back into physical activity after a baby is not always easy, so I loved having my May babies so I could start small with walks down our road with my little one. They were the perfect way to soothe my babies and get me out of the house without too much strenuous activity.
3. The pause before swimsuit season
My summer babies were not so much fun because stitches and postpartum bleeding definitely put a damper on my beach plans. Know what I'm saying? May gave me a little bit of time before I even had to think about swimsuits again.
4. Mother's Day
I'm not saying moms need anything special for Mother's Day, of course, but for me, it's always nice to remember the moment I became a mother during the month that moms are especially celebrated.
5. Future birthday parties
When those babies grow up and turn into school-aged children who will want sugar-fueled birthday parties, it will be handy to have a May birthday that equals perfect weather for an outside birthday bash. (Translation: the mess stays outside.)
