5 Hot (And Educational!) Toys For Christmas
Christmas is less than a month away…can you believe it? I just finished up my shopping for the kids, and trust me when I say that I did a lot of research looking for fun – and educational – toys that they would love. After reading a lot of articles about the hottest toys of the season (and seeing even more commercials on TV), here are 5 hot toys that your kids would really enjoy!
Are you and your little ones constantly fighting over the iPad? It’s gotten to the point in our house that we have to set the timer for my kids to avoid the fights! The InnoTab is very similar to an iPad, however all of the games (and there are a lot of them!) are educational. These games are fun and will help them to learn, read, and be creative. It’s a perfect family gift because the age range is for kids 3-9 years of age, so all of the kids can share it.
It even has a built-in rotatable digital photo and video camera. It’s funny to see what they take pictures of. If you’d like to learn more about it, I wrote a review of the Vtech Inno Tab 2 that will give you even more details.
If you have kids aged 2-6 years old, you probably have heard of Team Umizoomi, and the kids probably love the show – I know mine do.
Now your kids can call UmiCar just like on the Team Umizoomi television show! They just press the button on the easy-to-use remote control and the UmiCar will magically find your child and drive right to him or her. The remote has big buttons that also move the UmiCar forward and back, count, and sing.
I remember one of my favorite things to do as a kid was play school. I would be the teacher and my sisters (or dolls) would be the students. This is a gift I would have loved!
Perfect for kids 3-9, the classroom opens up and folds closed for easy storage. There’s a dry erase board, double sided calendar and a two-sided map. It even comes with a gradebook, stickers, hall passes, clock, bell, handpointer, crayons, pencils, erasers, worksheets, and a report card.
For the little ones, it will encourage school readiness and can promote conversations about going to school. For the older ones, they’ll have fun playing with their friends and taking turns teaching.
I think older kids would love this fun game (I know I would!) If you have kids aged 8+, you’ll want to check out this cool game. Using the dominos, kids can arrange 20 different patterns that when knocked over, reveal artful designs. Once they’ve mastered that, they can design their own patterns, too.
Colorfall will have your kids using their visual processing, planning, spatial reasoning, and hand eye coordination.
I had to include this toy because I have just as much fun with it as my nieces do! It’s aged for kids 8 and up, however my 5 year old son likes to play with it too.
This toy challenges your reaction time. You hold the game unit and follow the easy voice commands quickly and precisely, or you lose. It requires coordination and concentration, and it is very addicting!
What hot games are your kids asking for this year?
