When my kids were younger, we would spend weeks trying to decide on a costume for trick-or-treating. Once the choice was made, I would get my money’s worth out of the outfit because with my two little ones, who LOVED to play dress up, I knew it was not solely for that one night. No, that costume would be worn daily for months. So, when the big night did arrive, the excitement of getting dressed up and going out in the dark to get candy was almost an overload! Halloween is a holiday that screams fun, and I wanted to continue that with food, too, so I came up with 4 stress-free treat ideas that kept the little ghouls (and mom) happy!

Mummy Dogs

Dinner before trick-or-treating is a must in our house. Who wants to have a cranky goblin or princess? Keeping with the theme of the day is easy: Have a “plate full of worms” (spaghetti) or “monster eye pie” (pepperoni pizza). My kids loved “Mummy Dogs.” They are super easy to make and fun to eat, too.

Here is how you make them:

  • 1 package hot dogs
  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls

To assemble:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Roll out crescent dough on cutting board. Seal the seams to make one big rectangle. Cut 1-inch wide strips using the long side of rectangle.

Wrap each hot dog with a dough strip, and place on cookie sheet lined with foil.

Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes, until rolls are golden brown.

Allow to cool on tray for a few minutes. Place hot dogs on plate, and add two mustard dots for eyes.

Ghoulish Treats

Kids will have more candy than they know what to do with, so these treats are a healthier alternative to that pumpkin full of chocolate and lollipops. These are great for the in-between time from school dismissal until dinner or post trick-or-treating candy sorting and pre-bedtime. They make perfect party fun, too.

My daughter costume was only ten dollars. She her from last year was free. She is pooh bear. It big enough she can wear it next year if she wants too. I’m cheap and since I had to fix it. I happy it only cost 10 dollars. She wears it five times this year. Cause she in school and I took her to the Halloween events.
