14 Tweets That Sum up Parenting in Winter so Perfectly It Hurts

This week my home state of Minnesota has already called one snow day, two cold days, and the possibility of one more snow day to wrap up winter break 2.0 beautifully.

The kids are cheering and the working parents are “what now”-ing, but we all have to admit that there’s something amazing about being a part of that storm. The one that will forevermore be brought up every single time there’s snowy and cold weather in the future.

When I first moved to Minnesota (from California) and complained about the cold, snow, and slush combo that make winter extra hard on us newbies, all of my work friends would fall over themselves to be the first to say, “But that’s nothing like the Halloween blizzard of ‘91!”

And when I had my first Minnesota snow day — as a teacher — my husband said the exact same thing!

And even just now, when I wanted to double check the date of that snowstorm — because I wasn’t born here, it’s not ingrained in my memory 🙂 — it’s the 3rd search phrase to come up!

So all of these snow days and cold days and weather records got me thinking about how parenting in the winter is its own brand of tricky and requires its own level of parenting humor to get through.

Below is a slice of what Twitter parents have to say about parenting in winter. I bet you’ll be able to relate to these!

If your kiddos are little and can talk, this is you (and me!) right now.

And if you have school age kids, this one is 100% relatable.

And if you have teenagers, you get this at your core.

This mom is keeping it oh-so-very real.

And this mom is just truth telling for all of us AND reminding us that where there’s kids and too much quiet, there’s almost always trouble.

This is absolute parenting wisdom gold.

If you’ve been there – done that, you know that this does NOT feel like an exaggeration … at all!

So. Much. Truth.

But then there’s this.

And this kiddo right here, who’s all of our kiddos’ hero.

And this mom, who’s the best ever.
