A Wedding with Kids

If your fairy tale wedding includes some little ones, whether they are your own or your soon-to-be spouse’s, they play a pretty special part in your new life. So of course you want to do something extra special for your littlest bridesmaids and groomsmen when planning this event, because it’s kind of a big deal for them too.

Giving your children a little time and space is a great way to help them kick back and celebrate with guests their own size, too.

That ring on your finger is really something special to you, so how about giving the littler almost family members a little engagement bling of their own as well?  A ring, a necklace, a bracelet, or a pair of cuff links – presenting them with something so unique and special, is sure to make them feel extraordinary.

Your little wedding kids are always willing to share their imaginations and creativity, so recruit them as your wedding planners and ask for their input regarding wedding concepts. Incorporate their favorite colors and flowers into floral arrangements and embrace their personal style in the wedding fashion lineup; they’ll be really excited to see their ideas come to life at the day of the celebration.

Unconventional wedding refreshments are gaining popularity, as more wedding couples choose to offer something a little more personal than a generic slice of cake to their well-wishers.  This is great news for the smaller people in your wedding party, and maybe you can allow them to choose which celebratory treats will be on the dessert table.  From build-your-own bars with the makings for s’mores, ice cream sundaes, hot chocolate, and coffee with biscotti and cookies, to french fries and fruits and vegetables with dipping sauces – it will be fun to see where their taste buds ask for.

My parents had their silver wedding anniversary 8 years ago. It was wonderful to renew their vows with us the children as their secondary sponsors. It was an emotional ceremony! I’d like to have this for myself! I am teasing my husband to marry me again on our 10th!
