5 Reasons It Rocks to be Over-the-Hill and Pregnant
They say forty is the new twenty, and with the rise of women waiting until later in life to marry or have children, it must be true. Aside from maybe having a little less energy than younger counterparts, and the elevated health risks, being pregnant in your forties rocks!
Take your biological clock hit the snooze button! These days, you have a little “extra” time.
Studies have shown that fertility does decline after 35 years of age, so it is an even more amazing thing to have gotten pregnant in the first place!
As a woman ages, her body is less capable of releasing eggs, and some of the eggs that the body does release are not as healthy as they were at a younger age, therefore causing fertility issues. Not to mention the fact that women are born with all of their eggs, so the egg pool has gotten significantly smaller from menstruation.
You Have Less Wonders
A common theme for women who gave birth in their younger years is “what if?”
What if they had waited? What if they had traveled the world more? What if they had focused on their careers? This is not to say that all women who had children at younger ages feel this way, and it is also not to say that women who had children younger still did not get to do these things; it is simply a common theme for some younger women to express. Waiting until you're older than 40 to have a baby answered all those “what ifs,” because you were able to see exactly how those things played out in your life.
