What HE Should Do Before You Get Pregnant
Author: Melanie Denney
Women know that being healthy pre-pregnancy allows for a better chance of conceiving and experiencing a healthy pregnancy. So, for couples planning on getting pregnant, there is no doubt that women are more likely to be extra mindful of pre-pregnancy preparation; but really, there are several pre-pregnancy things a man should do as well. Below, you will find tips to help a man prepare!
Protect Your Testicles
Gentlemen, protect your testicles. Take more walks then bike rides, wear looser jeans, and limit your time in the hot tub. Activities that have the potential to wallop or overheat the testicles can be killer to your sperm count.
Knowledge
Did you know that a fertile ejaculation contains a sperm count of thirty-nine million? Even though that is a tremendous amount of sperm, only a select few will ever come close to fertilizing an egg. Sperm that aren’t normal (the slow movers, and the ones with misshapen heads or tails) are less likely to attach to an egg. The more you educate yourself, the better prepared you will be.
Giving Up and Giving In
Give up excessive alcohol, tobacco, recreational substances, junk food, and inactivity. Give in to a wholesome diet, regular exercise, and more sleep. Exposure to harsh chemicals like paint, fertilizers, pesticides, and harsh solvents should be avoided, or at least used with extreme caution. Following these suggestions will help support a fertile sperm count.
The Waiting Room
It’s no doubt that your female counterpart will spend quite some time in the waiting room. Now it is your turn to make an appointment with the doctor. Consult with your physician about preconception, any health concerns or medications you may be taking, and get a basic physical examination.
So Much Green
You’re in for an expensive journey with pregnancy and a baby. Prenatal care, labor and delivery, postnatal care, and checkups all cost hard earned dollars. Preparing yourself with good health insurance coverage, as well as being mindful of the expenses to come, will greatly reduce your financial stresses.
Rollercoaster
Be aware of the physical and emotional changes your partner will go through once she becomes pregnant. A changing body and crazy hormones are sure to send her on an unpredictable rollercoaster, so be prepared to support, love, and be patient with an emotional mystery.
In conclusion, if you and your partner are planning on a pregnancy, keeping yourself healthy and prepared is important too; because when it comes right down to it, it takes two to make a baby.
